As you may have read in the thread about my new system, I'm getting a 80 GB SSD which will be my boot drive.

Do you guys know how much space Win7 will occupy of that? I'd also like to install a couple of other slow-loaders like Firefox and Open Office.

Whatcha think?

Figure on about 30GB gone by the time you get through Windows 7, AntiVirus, Microsoft Office, FireFox, create your user profile, etc.

Watch out for iTunes and some games. The iTunes library, and the video games will need to go on a large, old-fashioned mechanical hard drive.

Win7 is a beast.
Just checked my W7 partition which is about 32GB for the OS, with a couple added programs.

I've heard some move the W7 swap file off the SSD to the HDD storage to help cut down the amount of extra read and write times done to the SSD. Haven't looked in to how they accomplish this though.
