I had a hard time upgrading a secondary machine running Windows 7. First had to set my language settings to English (US) (from English (Canada)) to get past the "Something happened" error message.

Then had to disable all my non-boot harddrives and card readers and disconnect any external peripherals to get the install to complete. Apparently this is a known issue.

But now that it's up and running, it's pretty good I guess. I don't notice much difference from Windows 7. Some things in the UI are laid out to be more easily accessible. I think the virtual desktops feature is the one I'll use the most.

Not going to upgrade my primary computer or work laptop until I've had a longer time to play with it on this test machine.

I saw on CTV news this morning that it has already been attacked by malware and there is no fix for it yet. I think, I will wait awhile.

I did the upgrade and had a weird issue where right-click in Windows Explorer wouldn't work...would hang/freeze and would have to restart explorer.exe in Task Manager.

Same when trying to use an FTP client...could connect but when I would try to navigate to a sub-dir it would freeze.

Couldn't pinpoint the cause so downgraded back to 8.1 and all is well again.

Will wait a couple of months before trying again...maybe a driver issue somewhere that needs an update before I can go all-in.

Of course I had to upgrade one of my computers, just to fuck around with it and see how it looks and whats new. I make images of my HD's so I can wipe out and reinstall in 25 minutes and be back to where I was. So far no problems.

Surprised by how many people seem to like having a KeyLogger running on their computer. Let alone all the passwords which Microsoft help themselves to directly, and share with others at their discretion. Google is your friend. Then again, Microsoft put it into prior versions, too, so maybe nobody cares.

To each their own.

Is that sarcasm? Google tracks everything you do, across all platforms.
