I'm going on memory, and mine is very short! LOL, but I believe you have to register XP online.

Karlie: You don't just need A key, you need the key to your copy of XP. Microsoft has instigated a registration process to help stop piracy.

If I'm not mistaken whenever you try and update windows XP (with service packs for eg) it will scan your pc to determine if you have a registered, verified version running on your pc.

You will need to get another un-used or another valid key to register
the copy of xp you put on the other computer.

My suggestion? Don't bother trying to use XP on another pc. You can get a legit copy on ebay for around $75.00 CDN. sometimes less!

They're called OEM versions, you don't get the fancy packaging but hey, who cares?

xp has been pretty good. if they had never released windows 95 and my first experience using windows was with xp, i wouldn't feel quite nearly as hostile towards microsoft. xp still crashes though, but at least you don't get that awful blue screen of death.

I'm working of a beta test of the 64 bit xp. The performance seems a little better but it's a pain in the ass since getting vendor specific drivers, especially anti-virus is a huge pain. I think it's about time for linux.

I have been working with 64 bit OSs for a while and in all honesty the Mac Tiger version for server is by far the best but i have just started using it since its release a few weeks ago.

If you're going to get a copy of XP on torrents, go for the Devil's Own Corporate Final. That one will accept the Service Packs.
