Over the holidays I had some wine that was made at one of those "Brew Your Own" outfits and it was surprisingly delicious (I did not have the opportunity to discuss it with the host).

Has anyone ever used one of those services before?

I would appreciate any feedback and possible recommendations of a reputable brew your own company.

TIA

I have been making wine that way for years and it is good. If you pay for the premium wine it rivals many expensive wines that cost $20 or more a bottle.
I have made mine out of Toronto and as such cannot suggest any place in the city, but they all have the same concentrates. It comes down to their cleanliness which, if they are a clean establishment, would preclude any contamination and bad taste.

Good luck

I've been making my own through one of these stores for 5 or 6 years now and couldn't do without them. I always have a batch on the go - when I bottle one batch I start the next.
As Dani mentioned, some of the premium brands are excellent. Again, I am in suburbia so I can't recommend a place in the city.

Nice Dens
Dani, is that some of the wine you and I were supposed to share before other board members butted in?

I thought the wine insipid and watery

In my experiences all concentrates were Chilean, produced a drinkable wine,
just completely boring and totally overwhelmed by dinner food flavours.
Friends' wines, from different place, tasted identical to mine, we assumed
because of same or similar concentrates and that variation in recipe and
fermentation for u-do-it winemaking is chemically dangerous.

U-brew beers though I found to be excellent as recipe and other
modifications are allowed and encouraged.

Friends of mine owned-operated one of these places. Majority of customers
referenced Valpolicella, 'house Chardonnay', Canadian, Kieths or Rickards
Red - leading them to believe that most people, fine by them, were more
enamoured of the novelty and price, not quality or uniqueness.

But it's fun, and where taste is concerned, it's very personal. BTW, I took a
date to a session and it was an absolute blast!

Home Made Wine

I have been drinking wine for many years and have yet to find a palatable home made red wine (IMHO) whites seem to be ok.

In order to produce a proper red wine it is necessary to have the right equipment, right grape, right amont of sun ,soil and mositure etc. You cannot find this in a can and fermant it in a glass carboy. But again this is IMHO.
