Hey guys I'm looking to buy a new winter coat. Looking for a peacoat but I am willing to get one that isn't exactly a peacoat but has that sort of look/style. One important thing is that it doesn't look bulky as I am looking for one that is more slim if you know what I mean. What are the best stores to go to because I'm at a loss right now on where to go. Price is not factor, I just want a nice winter coat. Also, I'm not buying any Canada Goose jackets because they make look like the Michelen man.

I bought a decent quality pea jacket recently. Then I removed the bland buttons and had some brass buttons sewn on. Now looks like a cross between a pea coat and a sports blazer and has elicited many compliments from the ladies at work.
Brass buttons on a pea coat? Really? The ladies at work probably thought you were part of a marching band.

These look sharp! Unfortunately, I'm slim and tall. Tall sizes usually start at 40.. getting there, but need to bulk-up more.
My only issue with peacoats (at least the ones I've worn) is that they're only so warm - need some more layers built in. Need to do more shopping to discover!

If you are tall and slim, you can check out shops like Zara for coats. This is more of a European type frame so shops like Zara will cater to that.
I'd begin with colour and go with a neutral that suits your skin tone. If you are fair and blonde, stick to tan and brown. If you get complements when you wear black, then stick to black, grey, or navy blue.
For someone slim, you may want to create the illusion of upper body bulk by doing things that give you the look of broad shoulders. Things like apulets or wider lapels will do the trick. You can also create bulk by going for a pattern such as a larger check.
As for custom vs off the shelf, sounds like you have the funds and so I would go custom. I designed and got made an overcoat 10 years ago that still holds up today and fits well. It was worth every penny. But once you go bespoke, it's hard to go back to off the shelf.

Do you want a pea coat which is short or a Bridge Coat which is full length?

Boss has a good selection for tall men. If you buy it from Harry Rosen, I think they do Bespoke too but I'm not too sure if it's simply for suits or all clothing. Depending on the fabric, they can be quite warm.
I've bought a few from there as gifts for relatives and they have survived our February freezes.

Chloë is right. Go to Harry Rosen, talk to an advisor/stylist (whatever they are called these days) for the brand you like. And get it sized properly (no cost). Boss is my go to for style and also because they are an ethical garment manufacturer (they pay the little hands what they deserve). You can do the same for shirts, pants and pretty much anything in store.
Oh! and the Boss cashmere is really warm.

The best time to buy a winter coat is the first shopping days after Christmas. There was especially a large selection this year. Most are put out at half price some at up to 70% off. The best way to go is to have several coats and jackets to suit your needs. As I do not spend a lot of time outside in the winter weather I do not need any heavy coats. I have several warm car coats and several light coats and winter jacket type winter wear. On the lighter coats you can always wear a micro fiber jacket under to keep the wind from getting in. I always check the weather forecast before I leave the house. It helps if you know how cold the day will be, and if there will be wind or dampness.
