Wireless speakers?

I have a big screen and a pretty good reciever I'm running everything through right now. I would like to set up surround sound, but there is no way to run wires. Has anyone tried wireless and could recommend a good brand? Thanks.

If you live in an apartment, don't let the neighbours who complain you play yr music loud know your speakers are wireless.

I'm no expert, but it seems you'd be limiting yourself to sound like that of a radio transmission.

I've used the Advent/Jensen water resistant outdoor speaker, which can run on batteries, and the sounds is pretty good for wireless. This ain't hi-fi, but it sounds OK.

Check the speakers out, selling for $50 each at www.factorydirect.com.

The problems with wireless speakers, aside from noise, is power and clarity. In order for a wireless speaker to deliver hi quality should and performance it requires an onboard amp. Since package size is a concern as is cost, low poer (watts) and poor quality (THD and response) boards are often used. Hi high quality AMP requires some heat emiting devices and thus need cooling fins and or a fan. Now no one wants a speaker with a huge footprint. And you can see how quality is often comprimised.

smerf said it all, the sound quality sucks.

You say you can't run wires? The only way you can't run wires is if you have bare floors and even then it isn't impossible....
