I must be hearing things.
I think I heard that Canada will bid for the World Cup of soccer in 2020

Problem is we don't have enough stadiums that are large enough to World Cup standards. Maybe share world cup between Canada and the states. Also, the World Cup is this year (2014), 2018 then 2022. It must be the Women's World Cup of Soccer.

Canada is hosting the Women's World Cup and that'll set the template for the Men's bid.

If a country as poor as South Africa can do it, so can we. The CFL stadiums can be refurnished and at least two new ones built. 8 to 10 would do it.

Only issue is that by 2026, Europe would not have hosted the WC since Germany 2006. They'll want it back.

After Russia and Qatar, I doubt the WC comes to Canada... Either Australia, England or the US will make another bid (they actually recently lost their respective bids) and we won't stand a chance.

After two successive questionable WC host grants (3 if you want to count the controversial Brasil bid considering all the protests, poverty, etc.), corrupt FIFA will be looking to make an attempt at rebuilding its reputation. Also, with England and the US, FIFA will stand to make a sh1t load more $$$ in tickets as they have many massive stadiums (that dwarf the Rogers Centre for example). BMO stadium ain't hosting a WC game anytime soon...
