In the Wolf's den
For those wrestling fans out there. Watched all 5 hours of Wrestlemania last night. I have to say that I was dissappointed. Some good matches, but most of them were wasted efforts. Pretty good match with John Cena and the Big Show - impressive to see a 250 lb guy twice pick up a 450 lb, 7' guy and toss him. The fatal four way matches for the tag titles were disappointing - just trying to get as many guys involved as possible. But to have it twice? The cruiserweight open could have been a classic - instead it was just quick time filler match. The women's matches were a waste of time - but it was great seeing the ladies in their bras and panties. Chris Jericho and Christian was a solid match - the rematch could be even better in Edmonton - Christian's actual hometown. Goldberg/Brock was brutal. A match fans have been waiting 6 months to see fizzled out, owing to the fact that both guys are leaving the company. Fans knew it, and they let the wrestlers know it with chants of Boring and this match sucks. Gotta love NY fans. The Rock/Sock connection vs. Evolution wasn't bad, but again, its been building up for almost a year - dissappointing ending. Could have been done so much better. But once again, Mick Foley does the "Job" in his hometown. Cool moment when the Undertaker returned with Paul Bearer and his old gimmick. Always thought that he had the best entrance in wrestling. The championship matches were good though. The last three matches were all good IMO. (Guererro/Angle, Undertaker/Kane, HHH/HBK/Benoit). Guererro and Angle are the top two wrestlers in the company and put on a solid show, but I've seen better out of them. Their rematches should be solid. The triple threat match was one of the better ones I've seen. Three solid performers, but they're all better suited to one on one match-ups. Benoit is the best technical wrestler today (trained by the best - Bret Hart) Glad to see him finally get the championship. Cool spot when HHH and HBK suplexed him through the announce table, eliciting chants of Holy Sh$t from the NY crowd. Overall though, a dissapointing show. Nice to see them honour the "Hall of Famers" - most notably Tito Santana and Harley Race.

are u nuts? this was an awesome ppv. the triple threat match was off the chart. it made the ppv worth it. eddy/angle put on a solid show with a smart finish. the fans during the brock/goldberg match made that match worth watching. the wrestling itself stank, but the fans were awesome!

The main event was insane.

Brock vs. Goldberg sucked hard!

Of all the legends I thought Don (the original Rock) Muraco looked the best, the guy hasn't aged!!

It was an interesting swerve when Trish turned on Y2J.

It will be interesting to see how long Chris can be a good guy, because he's sooooo good at being bad LOL

Another highlight was Cena picking up big show twice!!!

Another was Ultimo Dragon slipping on the way out, then again while climbing the ropes

Thanks

But Kathleen, evil Trish is HOT! Isn't that what's important?

No, seriously, I think it's a good move. Jericho doesn't need her, while aligning with Trish has the potential to keep Christian in the upper part of the mid-card.

I loved the triple threat match, especially Benoit winning. I've had to shake my head a lot this last month, and especially now with Guerrrero and Benoit holding the two world titles. There's something very wrong with that, and yet oh so wonderful at the same time. It's nice to see the guys with the skills get the chance to run with the ball.

It was getting to predictable with triple h as champ. Good to see a guy with ton of skill and talent in Benoit finally get the title .
Also Cena winning another guy with lot of talent remember his fights with the Undertaker .He has the entire package wrestling talent and great talker

Sports entertainment, damn it!

I echo everyone's praise for the triple threat match. It was much better than I anticipated. I also have to commend HHH for taking the pin... I didn't expect him to.

I was disappointed with the much ballyhood return of the 'deadman' Undertaker. Once he removed the long coat he wore to the ring, he was dressed in the same 'biker taker' ring attire! If they were going to bring back the old school taker, why not go all the way!?

Also feel badly that Brock left. He was a great talent - a big guy with the perfect look as well as actual wrestling ability. I'm surprised Vince didn't offer him the sun and moon to stay.

Does anyone have a guess on how much weight The Rock has lost? He looked almost ill. Too much time on the movie sets I guess.

The Undertaker was the high point for me. I've all but stopped going to the live Toronto shows because it was the gimmicks that I enjoyed, and his entrance was one of the best. I've missed that chill when the lights go out and he drifts in through the mist. Glad to see that 'taker' is back.

i heard rock lost weight on purpose to support his movie career. he didn't want to look too big in his roles, and way bigger than his co-stars.

It makes sense. When Rock first started with The Mummy Returns, he was being regarded as the next Arnold. I don't know about you, but watching Arnold in anything but action movies just seemed unreal. He's way too muscular to play any other "normal" characters. Thinking of all the movies Rocky has done so far, he's heading towards the same role Arnold did-but I think Rocky can make it just as big if not bigger because he's truly an entertainer of the ages. Of course now he just needs to be more versatile in his roles, and a slimmed down Rock will have a better chance in acheiving that.

Can't wait to see what they do with the lottery draft next week. I'm glad Vince realizes that the matchups are getting a little stale and needs change.

For the people who still refers to wrestling as "fake", I recommend you rent the movie "Beyond The Mat". It's an excellent documentary about wrestling, and will give you a better understanding for the business. Sure, matches are predetermined, and there're story lines, heck even the matches are "choreographed" to a certain extend. However there's also a very real side to the biz as well.

Soap Opera for Men just about sums it up though :)
