No necessary safer. Don't think stats consider how many near-collisions at Ohara or close calls at JFK.jaykraus242 said:I understand that you If you are concerned with safety on board a US air carrier, but I wouldn't be. True, there is a threat for a terrorist attack, no denying that. But if you look at the statistics, US airlines are remarkably safe, ESPECIALLY considering the sheer numbers of flights per day.
Check out this link to accident rates:
http://www.airsafe.com/airline.htm
As far as major airlines go, Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest, United, and US-Air all rank better than Air Canada for fatal accident rates.
NO US airline has put a scratch on a passenger since 2006. Thats a LOT of people moved around the world.

You'll need to book ahead.
East of toronto, the airport fisrt surfaced in the 70's when trudeau was running things, had just started Mirabel( wonderful idea that) and a tender went out for a second airport around toronto for reasons no body can understand. After exhaustive studies they choose the worst possible site according to the studies. All grade A farmland. Turns out the other sites had liberal mp's in place pickering didnot.OddSox said:Pickering? Where's that?![]()
i don't get it...if i get a quote from Buffalo to Rome with Expedia or Travelocity it = 1100 CADand go straight to Delta airlines ..i got a good price of 610 US out of Buffalo to Rome!? what the F#$K. I even tried through Delta > Toronto -Rome and get 900cad in that there is only 100 taxesrubmeister100 said:No Kidding!
I just went to book an Aeroplan flight to Europe in January and this "free" flight was going to cost me $350 in taxes, fees and fuel surcharges!
80,000 points if I will make connections and will do one trans Atlantic leg (either way!) in Economy or 317,000 points if I want direct non-stop flights each way.
There is no doubt in my mind that Air Canada and the GTAA are predatory opportunistic bastards.
What's so amazing about that?? When have quasi government entities in can. ever delivered value for money to the public. Never in my lifetime.HafDun said:Amazing that Hong Kong can not only build an airport, but also build the island it sits on and a high speed transit system to the city core...and still operate better than Pearson???
Where did you read that? I'm not disputing its truth, I just wanted to check for myself, and see if it was offset at all by small/medium plane landing fees. I had a hard enough time finding a list of Pearson landing fees, I couldn't find Narita at all.Reason? While the federal government rent accounts for about 33% of Pearson's costs, Pearson's large-aircraft landing fee is a whopping 80% (!) higher than Narita's.
The figures I cited were for 2006. I just looked up the numbers for 2008 and it's even worse!! And no, the fees are not "offset" by smaller aircraft fees... Pearson landing charges are double Narita's across the board. And the 747 landing fee at Pearson is 40 times(!) Atlanta's.qwertyuio said:Where did you read that?
