I installed grokster, file sharing program.
And when installing it, you indirectly agree to have other spyware shit installed.
I got spyware removal - spybot search & destroy.

But one thing has evaded it. whenever i start up, some "topmoxie" window pops up, meaning the kind of window that would appear when an error or illegal operation has happened.

I know i might have to go into the regedit area of things, but i'm no computer whiz.

Anyone know what files are necessary on bootup? or know of any boards that can help me out here?

Thanks.

No more shareweare crap for me.
Annoying as shit.

You may want to try this site for help:

http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/

To see which programs are running in the background click on "run" on your main menu and type "msconfig" - you will get a popup window. Click on the "startup" tab and look at any program that is running from "C:\Programs". YOu can check them out individually to see if it is necessay for them to startup with windows. You can disable startup by removing the check mark in the box next to the program in the "startup item" column.

You may also want to invest in a registry cleaner (I use "CleanMyRegistry Cleaner") - it will scan you registry for any links that are no longer valid (i.e. prgrams that have been removed but leave junk behind in your registry). Anytime you make changes to your registry you should back it up first.

Hope this helps.

Irish, it worked.

I got this program
http://www.registry-clean.net/

I REALLY recommend it, i dunno what it did (actually i do, but just sounds more dramatic :D) but it worked, start up is clean and back to normal.

No more peer 2 peer programs again.
I'm changed man, Hallelujah!
(was dreading of spending a few hours re-installing the whole computer)
This may be the first program that I'm going to buy. lol
