If you have a valid version and valid key - you can just call Microsoft and they will resolve this issue - it is a common problemsailorsix said:I decided to re-format C:/ just to clean things up. I had been running a copy of an OEM XP with no issues. Reinstalled. Windows Update does not accept key as legit now.
Any idea how to change key to one that is accepted for verification?
Thanks
Also this problem can occur if you make one too many upgrades to your PC.drrogers said:If you have a valid version and valid key - you can just call Microsoft and they will resolve this issue - it is a common problem
You need a valid license for each PCsailorsix said:Its a legit copy but just for my other PC...a dell laptop

BTJunkies.com kicks you over to a site called filesharing.biz. no signs of anything like xp Pro on there. Doing a search on XP Pro there kicks you over to either lowpriceshopper.com or findstuff.com neither of which sounds like a download site you are referring to. Am I missing something?drrogers said:Go to BTjunkies.com and download a student version of XP PRO. It is open, comes with a serial # and doesn't require validation - you will need a program like bitcomet to download it but the rest is easy. If you have any problems just google the question and you will find the answer. Good luck - it's a fcuking shame that Microsoft makes us do these things
Its btjunkie.org not btjunkies.hot rod said:BTJunkies.com kicks you over to a site called filesharing.biz. no signs of anything like xp Pro on there. Torrent DL speed varies widely. Many variables come into play. Sometimes it helps to stop and restart the DL or go to a faster site with more people but that btjunkie.org site looks like a good site.sailorsix said:thx.

I did a search and found only three threads on Torrents. None of them actually had info on how to use it. I've figured out that you needed the torrent client and have downloaded and installed that. After the download (of XP) I have this big image file, a file key and one other. I could burn this all to CD, but is it a bootable image?WoodPeckr said:If you are unfamiliar with torrents, do a search in this forum for, 'torrents'. There are a couple good threads here that will help you out.
That took a bit of digging. I'm using Nero 7. It has the same features but they are not displayed the same. Anyway, I found the 'Burn Image' selection and it worked.thirdtime said:Don't use an extractor, just burn the .iso file.
If you're using Nero, open Nero Burning ROM.
Close the 'New Compilation' window that appears when Nero opens.
From the top tool bar: select 'Recorder', then 'Burn Image', then browse to where the .iso file is and select it.
