Sounds fun until the tenant stops putting out. Then what? Kick her out? Good luck. What's the landlord going to do? Call the cops? Physically try and remove her? He will end up in jail so fast. Too much can go wrong.
I watched it…I think its more of a sugar daddy arrangementWatched this video yesterday:
Are these victims or consenting adults?
Not only do I watch Marketplace I still watch 60 Minutes…I hope I never get so old that I have nothing better to do than to watch CBC Marketplace.
A friend of a friend had this nightmare story about letting a girlfriend stay with him. She promised to pay him rent, and drew up a sloppy lease. Then she went suicidal and cut herself and blamed him when he tried to stop her. He fled because he didn't want to get accused of assault. He never got any rent. But there is a subset of men that are more than willing to take such risks, and many do so without any serious negative consequences throughout life.
It'd be interesting to know how many of the men offering a place to stay are actual owners of the property, or just tenants willing to give up a bedroom in their rented pad for sex. I'm only guessing, but I think most of these men would be tenants because owners have so much more to lose.
You admit that? Not only do I watch Marketplace I still watch 60 Minutes…
I also still watch Rockford Files, Hogan's Heroes and The Odd Couple...You admit that?
I do too, what do you prefer, Fox and Friends or Rebel News? You admit that?
When you break it down there is so many things that could go wrong on both sides...what either party could benefit of this arrangement is not worth the downside of what could go wrong. The problem is protection under the Residences Act. There is no protection and the guy is taking a huge legal risk.
It really is stupid when you break it down.
No, I don't watch TV news magazines.I do too, what do you prefer, Fox and Friends or Rebel News?
Wow, Mary Tyler Moore? I will make your day then by telling you Dick Van Dyke is still alive, YES HE IS!!!! LOLNo, I don't watch TV news magazines.
One time on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Ted Baxter introduced himself to an old lady, who said "I don't watch TV. I have a fireplace".
I saw the episode in the 1970's.Wow, Mary Tyler Moore? I will make your day then by telling you Dick Van Dyke is still alive, YES HE IS!!!! LOL
Marketplace exposes crooks, scams and dishonestly to the public...in this case, it's a warning to anybody who reads the ad and thinks it might be a good deal.I saw the episode in the 1970's.
If you want to troll me, squeezer, you must not have read all of this thread:

which you started on Sunday.
Ask yourself this question:
Did the CBC Marketplace doc give you any information which you didn't already know?
Didn't you already know that if you answered an ad from some guy looking for a sugar baby, things would not work out well for you?Marketplace exposes crooks, scams and dishonestly to the public...in this case, it's a warning to anybody who reads the ad and thinks it might be a good deal.
Never thought about it, it's not for me on either side...but...I'm sure it's worked out for someDidn't you already know that if you answered an ad from some guy looking for a sugar baby, things would not work out well for you?
Totally agree I would say it's the landlord who usually messes these type of arrangements up by not keeping his horniness in check and becoming too aggressive and asking for things that weren't agreed upon. The tenant is always more at risk in these situations so if a tenant is looking to do this type of arrangement she really needs to do some due diligence of the landlord. It might not be the best idea to find someone off Craigslist lol. These arrangements probably work better when both parties know each other from beforehand and it's more a fwb type arrangement.I'm reading a bunch of concern for what I'll call the landlord in this type of arrangement and not much concern for what I'll call the tenant. You are all more worried about the tenant saying no to sex once in awhile than you are the high likelihood of the landlord abusing his position.
I can see a young naive student falling for this, and an agreement of a BJ or HJ or sex once in awhile turning into much more than agreed upon with the landlord being in a position of power.
It's not like you can write up a legally binding contract for this.
Many of these landlords are going to soften and minimize their true expectations and intentions in order to lure in a young woman desperate for a place to live. This is a form of sexwork called "survival sex" where a person trades sexual favours for shelter, food, clothing and basic necessities needed to live.
When someone is in a state of desperation, they are easily taken advantage of.
I'd also worry about the possibility of hidden cameras in private spaces.
The entire prospect of trading sex for a place to live scares me and my main concern is for the safety of the young woman who is at the mercy of an older man, as most are looking for young females.
Apparently you don’t know what is then.If this isn’t a sign of a failed country I don’t know what is
