I'll never, ever buy another fucking HP printer again. Such a scam.

Ink keeps drying up, each cartridge comes with a tiny amount of ink and dries up quickly, cost is $50 a cartridge. Then there are so many software problems. With some printers you need to keep paying a subscripton fee for the printer to work. Never again. I've had so many technical problems on top of that too.

Seems all the printers on Amazon are HP.

Got myself a Canon MF3010 from Walmart. Laserjet, so ink won't dry out. Works great, and a steal at $135. Delivery included.

Yeah I am turning off of HP printers too. Even though I have been buying them for 15 years. I consider myself average regarding computer technology and for the life of me I have always had problems connecting them wirelessly to my laptops. I frequently connect via USB. I am thinking of giving Brother a chance for my next printer.

I have a HP laserjet printer for 8 years and never had an issue. Ink jet is not the way to go no matter who manufacturers the printer. Ink will always dry up over time.

Inkjet printers are always a rip off. I have an inkjet. Thinking of going laser.
100%

Brother printers are the way to go, toner, toner toner! Check out Kijiji and Marketplace, I scored a very lightly used one for dirt cheap, guy moved from another province to here for work, realized he needed something more heavy duty and had to get rid of his ASAP, I think I paid $100 with a new toner in it. I just look for a reason to print something. lol

Definitely brother, HP is shit, Canon used to be good, not sure what they're up to lately and anyone else I wouldn't even think about.

LOL I could feel the seething anger through the screen 🤣
Friend returned his HP inkjet last week, such a pain to connect it to Wifi and his Chromebook. Went back to his Brother printer, got it working in no time.

HP products have went to shit for such a long time. Naturally you'll have the anomaly that holds up well as one person's HP has in this thread, but it's rare.

Got a Brother HL- 2390dw laser printer years ago that works great and will never go back to inkjet printers.

Just get your HP cartridges refilled by some of these booths that do offer it. They fill it right up to the top, and it lasts much longer than actually buying new cartridges that are a rip off.
The problem with Cannon cartridges are the microchips that prevent you from reusing refilled cartridges. There are ways of bypassing these microchip technologies that are installed on these cartridges. However, there are some stores that offer third party cartridges that are compatible with the Cannon printers, and have around three times the ink levels. They will last a lot longer.

inkjets are a complete rip-off. I have an HP that just collects dust because I refuse to buy a replacement cartridge. Even refilling an old cartridge has it's issues.

I just go to Staples and print off what I need. If I buy a new printer it will be a Laser printer.

I've heard that HP wants to make the printer hardware a subscription too. The kicker is that they limit how many pages you can print in a month. They dangle the higher tier subscriptions so you can print more. I thankfully print very little, but if I would just go to Staples if I needed to. Better to let Staples deal with the hardware and software maintenance.

I did not have any issues when using refilled cartridges. However, all printers do have a finite lifetime. New ones are cheaper than the new cartridges when purchased at some sales specials.

They have this for their hp tango. And the ink will stop if you
stop the subscription (I tried and yes it’s true so then if you get the ink refill and stop say a week into the subscription that ink left in the cartridge just goes to the garbage as they have the barcode in their system and therefore you can’t get it out lol)

Notice how everything has gone subscription based?
I mean even INK in printers? Get fucked. I had a feeling we'd all be screwed once Microshit decided to put Office into subscription mode, then there was talk of BMW and Mercedes having monthly subscriptions for heated SEATING. 🤡
Who knows what's next.

To be fair, you can still buy Office as a 1-time purchase i.e. no subscription and there are tons of legit license key web-sites out there to get the cost down even more. Or use free alternatives like Google Docs or Libre Office.

I'm a freelancer and use Adobe apps reguarly. I prefer the subscription model because their apps used to cost thousands. That made it out of reach for most people even if they just wanted to learn the apps. Today, I can turn the subscription on or off when I need it. Or I can "cancel" the plan at any time to get a cheaper price. I can do this inside the software with no need to be on hold or chat with support. The current plan is about $80 / month, but I can get it down to less than $40. I can easily cover that cost with the money I bring in and it's also a deductible business expense.

Generally, if you're on a subscription you can contact support to get them to lower the price. They would rather give you a discount instead of losing you as a paying customer.

I like HP printers.
Epson is the brand I hate. Never buy another one.
I had 1 come free with a computer and I threw it out, that's how much I hate them. They are basically a brick after 2 or 3 months and they suck ink like no other.

I notice that the HP ink these days will dry after about 14 months whether you use it or not. Had a couple of Canons and liked them.
Lexmarks had tracking issues. Phoned them once about it and they said they are all like that?
