Police have so far been unable to identify the female motorcycle passenger killed on the 401 last Friday; so, she's a Jane Doe and they haven't been able to identify the motorcycle driver who took off either.

As a couple of people here have stated already, the poor passenger could have been someone who saw him and the bike at a hangout and asked for a ride. I've been following this story and the reasons some riders state are ridiculous. Reasons such as the rider ran because of the speeding laws....cops are to blame 'cause they chased the bike....cops ran over the poor victim...the victim is also to blame for not hanging on properly, etc. These are the excuses I've read....all of this is a bunch of crap.
Yes, the speeding laws aren't something everyone agrees with but they're there. Fight it if you get caught, protest it all you want to your local MP...but it's still the law. The cop put on his light to pull him over and he took off weaving in and out through traffic. He was riding a sport bike and for anyone who has ridden one, you should know how fast they accelerate. Not chasing a bike is an un-written rule...not too many police forces, if any, actually have a policy that states 'don't chase bikes'. The idiots who run from cops are usually younger guys, not always but usually. A ticket is something you can fight, perhaps beat and at worst, will be off your record in a few years.....an injury or life lost.....is it really worth taking off?

If the bike owner had intentions of picking up chicks, he would have had to carry a spare helmet with him. Not beyond possibility, but how many punks do you see riding sport bikes carrying spares?
It baffles me that any young female would not have had some sort of network of family and/or friends who would have come forth by now with a missing person report. That part is a bit baffling. i hope they find the biker soon. i hope some parents somewhere are checking in with their kids making sure everything is ok.My daughters are in their mid 20's but we still talk 2-3 times per week even though they are in another part of canada. Hopefully this victim was not some stray waif.

Actually, as an ex-rider and having been to meets, and also having seen some posers, there are a few who had one strapped to the helmet lock under the back seat when posing at Timmies, downtown, etc. Not a lot but there are some as they know some cutie may ask for a ride. The people I rode with never took a stranger for a ride plus even if they wanted to, couldn't as we never carried a spare helmet. But, I was riding with an older crowd....on sportbikes.
I'm with you whitewaterguy...I hope it's not someone who's parents/family/friends are somewhere else. It's good you speak to your daughters...I've already told other parents and also my nieces not to accept rides on bikes, especially from strangers.
But, my friend and I use to cruise around on our motorcycles picking up girls. One time we met 3 girls but we only had 2 bikes.

Yes, I am. My friend and I offered to take only two of the girls but they refused to leave their friend behind standing on the curb so we ended up taking no girls. Insert "no girl for you" smilie.

It's a bad sign the police don't have a suspect in custody yet. Obviously no witness or highway camera was able to make out the license plate of the motorcycle.
