I don't get it.

How could Genie self-destruct and lose to a scrub like that? I'm at a loss, all her opponent had to do was allow Genie to make mistakes. And she did, 36 unforced errors! And this is a costly loss, she wont get seeded in top tier evnets and she'll have to qualify for the Australian Open. She's carrying extra muscle lately, maybe she's having trouble adjusting...fucked if I know Bubba, fucked if I know. And she's still a draw, the camera followed her around like she was playing with herself.

...ducking the hook again.

Does anyone else dislike the high tv camera angle coverage? I'd rather have the camera closer to the playing surface so one can truly appreciate the ball movement, that is you can see the arc trajectory of a ball that has a lot of topspin.

It saddened me that the lovely and talented Nick Kyrgios went out but not surprised. He's nursing a tender hip he picked up during the Roger's Cup. Delpo advances!

One to watch: Coco Vandeweghe.

She has all the weapons to win a Slam but she's flakey. She survived her ordeal by butterscotch, blonde galore. Will this be the tournament that she finally gets her shit together?

Mongo like butterscotch.

She's totally lost out there, has no belief. IMO she should take 6 months off, get away from the game for a while, allow her psyche to recover and come back when she's hungry for the game again. Right now she looks like she doesn't care. I've no idea where you're seeing extra muscle, unless it's on her face when she grimaces at impact!

Don't know about his hip but he did injure his right shoulder during the course of the match today. Happened at beginning of the third set and he was history after this. If it keeps going like this there won't be a Top 20 player left by year end.

Calling Genie's opponent a scrub is harsh, genie is the real scrub
Pack it in Bouchard, internet porn is calling you,you might be better at double anal than with a tennis racket.
Milos is next on the "hope he can find a real job because tennis is no longer it" watch list

Shapovalov!

I think his next opponent is Kyle Edmund tomorrow/today?

I'm now watching more tennis than the Jays.

A bit harsh on Genie, ya think. Le Shapo per la victoire!

He did what he had to do. He had only two aces but most of his serves were returned with duress. He painted the lines and, most importantly, he won points on his second serve.

Sasha Zverev got into trench warfare with his Croatian opponent and lost. On paper it looked like a Kvitova vs Bouchard matchup, there's no denying the importance of topspin. The longer the rallies went the more the advantage went to Coric. I didn't watch the last set, Shapo took precedent. Too bad Johnny Mac wasn't calling the match.

For each Shapo win, I'm playing a victory song.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I think Shapo has a shot at winning the whole thing. He was absolutely clinical against Tsonga, except for the hiccup when he served for the match. Now there's nobody outside of Cilic with any big street cred in his half of the draw.

Love the way he's playing with abandon and, unlike so many players these days, not afraid to approach the net.

If he goes to the net consistently for points, something Shapo didn't do @ The Rogers Cup, his chances of winning it all increase.

To do that, he has to avoid the trap Zverev fell into. He can't get full of himself and he can't digest break chances, Zverev ate seven of them. The best thing that could of happened to Shapo was beaning the ref with a ball last fall. The experience humbled him, Martin Laurendeau will keep him grounded. He's been tracking Shapo's development for most of this decade.

If he does manage to take it all, I'll have to switch the song:

Two veterans with a combined age of 71 years went at it, The Fed survives.

My mind says Coco Vandeweghe has a good chance of winning it all but my heart says anyone but. She is an Ugly American. She disparaged her Tunisian opponent and abused the ball boys/girls. Then she tried to play the NYC card, even though she hasn't lived there since she was 12.

Shapo's match against Edmund will be interesting, he was his opponent when Shapo smashed the ball at the ump during the Davis Cup.

Shapo today at 1pm. Anyone else agree that this guy is already better than milos? His movement around the court is miles better than milos' who looks like he's in quicksand. Looking good for the 2nd week!

Not sure about that. I know one thing after tonight though. There's bad news for the rest of the field - the Maestro is starting to look like his normal self!

Shapo looked fatigued today, his return of serve had no snap. Good experience for him and next time he wont have to qualify.

Interesting conversation on TSN4 about size. The talking heads are saying that to be successful in tennis to-day and the past 10 years males have to be at least 6 feet tall and probably females as well. I thought tennis is one game where normal size humans can successfully compete.
