I only post this because I just happened to see mine yesterday: Downsizing.

It is an amazingly interesting premise, with top talent and a great director. It could have been fantastic in any number of directions, but it follows them all at once into the land of "meh". I was checking my watch by the end.

Watched it online so at least I didn't waste my money. Hong Chau was fantastic in the movie and the main reason why I continued watching it. Although critically acclaimed (but a box office flop), I really didn't enjoy The Killing of a Sacred Deer. I started watching Bright online but had to stop as it was not to my liking. On the other hand I totally loved The Villanous.

I'm a big movie fan. I loved American and foreign films. Each year I tried to go to TIFF to see stuff I knew would never see these shores. I had a discussion recently about cinema in North America. The quality of films being made keeps going down. Either Hollywood ran out of good ideas or they are going after the quick buck by remaking old classics or pumping out garbage like comic book films etc. Films are not story driven any more but merely special effects with perhaps one inch of story and character development. I just heard they will remake the Charles Bronson classic Death wish. Again another example of Hollywood running out of ideas.

Best films I've seen this year:

Blade Runner Villeneuve is a great director
Lady Bird Greta Gerwig great story she wrote and directed
Dunkirk was amazing. Nolan great atmosphere and showed a story can be told with not much dialogue or special effects.

Three billboards outside ebbing Missouri was quite good story-driven.

A couple of the worst movies I gave a chance to but couldn't finish watching:

The latest transformers
The great Wall with Matt Damon and I love Damon
Guardians of the Galaxy 2, I fell asleep to this.

Nooooooo! I wanted this to be a good movie. I was looking forward to seeing it. The premise is awesome. I had really high hopes for this one.

Same exact story for me. It was worth the $7.50, but not the 3 hours.

Alexander Payne is an over-rated director, his best film is Sideways. Didn't care for The Descendants.

I didn't think Dunkirk was that good.
+1

I was really looking forward to seeing that film but left feeling disappointed and frustrated. The loud, continual gun fire and explosions drowned out the dialogue- I understand this was done deliberately by the director to simulate the battlefield experience but I just found it annoying. I still liked the film but I was disappointed.

x3. The lack of cgi to show how many men were waiting on the beach to be evacuated was noticeable. It didn't feel like a major event in history. I was disappointed as well.

Big Sick came with high ratings and some star power.

But like anything Judd Apatow touches, I hated it....this is what passes for funny and clever dialogue? Apatow should watch some Turner Classic Movies.

Most DISAPOINTING and not worst film (cause thats a different thing) for me is STAR WARS The Last Jedi. No spoiler but...

Had huge expectations, especially after a safe but solid episode 7 establish nicely new characters while still respecting the old ones. Last Jedi just destroyed everything. Its a beautifull movie visually and very well acted no denying this, but the story, oh my god the story. Totally destroy everything cool establish in force awaken, does not respect the old characters (Luke especially), its not even sure where it want to go with its own idea. Lot of plot holes, a 20 min waste of movie time with a side mission nobody liked... And also piushing shitty real life politics and SJW into Star Wars (Thanks Kathleen Kennedy... NOT)

When i got out of EP7 i was so pumped for the next installement, i couldn't wait, now after EP8 im thinking im not really interested to see EP9. With what they left from that movie i couldn't care less what happen.

Where JJ Abrams seemed to understand the importance of developing a story within the established universe, Rian Johnston went completely his own way, often for the sole sake of misdirecting the audience. Will be interesting to see how JJ Abrams picks up Johnston's threads in episode IX, if he even does it.

Definitely Flatliners the remake. Such a disappointment...the original was way better.

Some of my fave are Wonder Woman and Star Wars.

Agreed saw it at TIFF, couldn't wait till it was over. People at the end just sat there in
amazement at how bad it was, surreal...

The new Star Wars' Kylo Ren lightsaber puzzles me. How can he use it without cutting off his own hand? Oh yeah, the latest sucked! Turned Luke into a nothing character seemingly only to discard him. Maybe because he's getting too old and they need new characters?
