Personally, I have never been a fan of visiting the US. America's increasingly toxic political climate and the country's out-of-control COVID-19 problem are two more reasons for me to avoid travelling there.

Many deceitful USA citizens are sneaking into Canada (by car) by saying they're "going to Alaska". They have no such plan. It's a straight, outright lie.

What I hope Canadian customs can say to them is that they'll need a document from Alaska customs to prove they've been there. Otherwise, they will not be able to return to the USA via Canada.
Customs should make them show proof that they are returning to Alaska because they live there . Other wise you're not going through Canada . Period . Just like they do in PEI . You don't live there so you're crossing the bridge .

Any vehicle that doesn't have an Alaskan plate should not be allowed to enter Canada .

What do you mean if they don't have an Alaska plate ? What if it's a Montana plate or Washington plate and they want to visit Alaska ?

Canada Customs could ask for proof of hotel or campground stay in Alaska. Then it's fair. Can't provide written proof of a reservation stay in Alaska then you can't come into Canada.

Re PEI not allowing non residents in, that travel ban contravenes the Mobility Rights found under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, there are a number of Court challenges facing Newfoundland's travel ban so those travel bans you speak of are Unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court of Newfoundland will hear one court challenge August 4 and there's more challenges being lined up.

That is correct, the vehicle plate doesn't matter.

Confirmation MUST be provided of visit to Alaska. Sure, you can come into Canada if truly going to Alaska. Returning to USA from Canada without confirmation of having been to Alaska is not doable.

You've got a lot of vitriol towards Americans huh? We're mostly stupid? Covid rates would be a lot higher in Canada if you had 370 million people regardless of who's running the country. Has Everybody up in Canada followed the rules on quarantine as well? We have "stupid" people on both sides. Keep the border closed for years and see how badly your economy gets hit without us "stupid" Americans to come and visit. Geez, I didn't realize how much anti American rhetoric you have on this board.

The hatred against Americans on this board is usually from assorted leftists, antifa supporters, cop haters and Islamists that are angry with Trump because he blocked access to the US from several Muslim countries. The silent majority support our neighbors to the south, like most Canadians. Of course we have stupid people on both sides, just look at Trudeau.

This idea doesn't work. Anyone can book the hotels towards Alaska, show them to Customs, it looks legit, Cross over then cancel all hotels and go to Banff. People have done this for communist countries when visiting their SO.

I know a few people who are out west travelling. How they flew there is beyond me. I though flights were canceled,,, but I guess passenger/cargo planes are still flying.
Are people following the guides/rules?.
Only the nuts, wild, it's all in your head believers are not. The ones following the rules are getting sick. Go figure.

Agreed, I hope it gets toned down a bit. We're neighbors, let's be friendly, lol. Well said Conil

And how they will stop them from going back?

Have been living in U.S. for a few years before coming to Canada (easier place to immigrate to): I like U.S. better. People are more genuine, less bullshit, and less government. Canadians are too whiny. The only things that are better in Canada are SP prices and bread.

Per Capita, the Americans have a much higher Covid-19 infection and death rate than Canada. Accept facts and just do not make up some bogus statements. Obviously, you are not aware that most Canadian provinces did follow the lockdown procedures, while certain US States like Florida had their beaches etc up and running with business as usual. No wonder that their infections rates and those in 18 other states are going in the wrong direction. Canada are 100% right to keep the border shut for a further month. Better to get it right in the very beginning and then overcoming the barriers rather than the rash decisions by those US states that consist of mainly the Republican Governors!!

Wish you can convey that message to their POTUS who came up with tariffs etc against The Canadians. Otherwise, I would say yes, we should have the strongest ties with the USA. Hopefully after November, we can start restoring those strong ties with the USA!!
