I personally avoid putting voters into boxes and over-generalizing. College campuses have always had conservative and Christian students who were greatly engaged in Republican politics. This was very noticeable during the Reagan years.
In recent years, these conservative students have felt silenced by campuses dominated by progressive faculty and administrators.
