See page 13 of this document. Its ADL baloney. They actually consider the shooter at Parkland High School to be a right wing extremist. Same with the incel movement. It also uses a narrow window of 9 years 2012-2021. Can you say cherry picking?
Cruz had been known for behavioral problems since preschool,[6] and as a teenager on social media he shared his obsessions with mass shootings and expressed racist, sexist, antisemitic, xenophobic, and homophobic views.[7]

Right wingers in this thread are now awfully quiet. Must be hard to type with that egg on their face
Give them some time to regroup and get their thinking done for them/

Stephen Miller hasn't been able to come up with anything hateful enough to update the narrative to go out to the Trump militia.

I blame the start of this right wing extremism on the advent of the late night Outrage Radio business model started by the likes of Rush Limbaugh. He turned a couple of my (former) good friends into obsessive lunatics.

Rush and his ilk saw how gullible southern American's were by the example of the Televangelist Cult Leaders grifting off the gullible.
I would say Rush Limbaugh was one of three main components to this.

The first, I would say, was Ronald Reagan in 1981, when he more or less scrapped the Fairness Doctrine, which mandated TV and radio shows reporting on controversial issues to present both sides of the story.

With the Fairness Doctrine gone, people of all sides were now able to grab hold of controversial topics and only present their side as if it were gospel truth, allowing no room for nuance or discussion. No one took advantage of this more than Rush Limbaugh.

The other component was political strategist Lee Atwater, who, starting in the mid-1980s, really birthed gutter politics in the USA.

Beware the Reichstag moment.
There are voices on the right calling for martial law and suspension of civil rights and arrest of the radical left.

This shit has to stop. Anyone calling for murder of political opponents, regardless of political affiliation, is an enemy of America. They should be labeled as such.

The best speech- the one that Trump should have delivered - came from the Governor of Utah. And yes, he's a conservative Republican.

Absolutely. But it took some time to take effect.

Because in 1981, the idiots with crazy right-wing ideas, conspiracy theories, and or anti-science bull shit were speaking to the other half-drunk like himself in a local tavern... They half listen to him to keep the entertainment while delaying getting back home to their wife...

Now these idiots have a platform to listen to their bullshit.. platform called the Internet, which can propagate their BS to the whole planet 🤮

Dude actually had no political affiliation, and didn't vote in the last two elections. We was, however, becoming more "political", and didn't like Kirk according to friends.

I'm seeing various vague things written about messaging on the weapons etc, so I won't comment until it's actually up and not just supposed reportage.

1 semester of college, switch to electrical, still with it. 3 years in.

He has lawyered up. So unless he breaks or a manifesto is found, assume statements attributed to him to be made up for now.

Totally. And I should have added a 4th and 5th component to my first post, and those are the advent of the Internet in the early to mid 1990s, when chatrooms were becoming platforms for these people, and then 2006-2010, when social media really started getting a stronghold -- now these people were no longer posting anonymously.

Well he did take a side. We just don't know the exact motivation yet.

I'm curious about his dating history. Going out on a limb I wonder if he was somehow closeted in Utah. Looks like a religious family as the dad took him to a preacher/law enforcement friend to get him to surrender.

Hot mike moment from 1957. Things haven't changed much

WOW!

Just like Trump. You could put those exact words into today's Trump Party and the only difference is that the devoted would say it was AI.

Did you notice the one guy in the bar who tried to cover up the radio?!?! Didn't want to hear that he'd been conned.

Well at least he didn't say "Grab them by the pussy". That might have gotten a reaction back in 1957

I'm not old enough to recall the Reagan years, nor interested enough in US politics back in the Lee Atwater era to even know about it. All I recall is my latently racist friends who found valifation in Rush and then went on to hate Obama, specifically because he was a n-word. And these guys were CANADIANS. Not a chance to vote in the US or have ANY influence. Nor social media to share their bilious vitriol with others like nowadays.

I only got interested in US politics when Trump came into the office. I almost did business with him on three occasions. Once in construction, once in a product and once in a possible Las Vegas tourist attraction. I met him in person for the construction deal and my lawyer (local to the area and having had other clients dealings with Trump) advised me to stay far away from him. I got the same bullshit con artist vibe from him. Second with the product endorsement. The majority partner really thought he'd be a great fit and I went along with it but Trump wanted terms that were even too greedy for the partner. Third was a connection through a former Miss America contestant who thought she was special to Trump. Yes, we got a meeting with him in Vegas and yes, he thought it was a great idea, and yes he wanted to fuck my friend/possible biz partner to take things to the next level of 'due diligence'. She got a reality check. She said that he hit on her during the pageant but thought it was normal, but that she was somehow special. Again reality check.
