Goldwax was a compilation label that licensed soul music from the original release labels. It was mostly out of Britain, but I think Martin Koppel distributed it in Canada.
Goldwax and Kent were the labels where I found most of my rare general, Northern and "deep" soul on cd's.

The CD label I was referring to was was "Goldmine Soul Supply". They are still available.

I almost like this more than Pillow Talk. Sylvia of course was the co-founder and CEO of Sugar Hill Records, the first rap label. She signed Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Treacherous Three, Funky 4+1, Spoonie G etc. I consider her to be one of the most important black music contributors of all time. Michael Jackson released 10 solo LP's and another 15 with the Jackson Five/The Jacksons. Rarely did he delve outside of this musically. Here are those rare occasions
"Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming" a duo with his brother Jermaine
"Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell. MJ provided backup vocals on the chorus.
"Centipede" by Rebbie Jackson. MJ provided back up vocals along with his sister, LaToya.

The Weather Girls were comprised of singers Martha Wash and Izora Armstead. Two heavy set black ladies who started in gospel and came together in the mid 70's as the backup singers to disco artist Sylvester. At that time they referred to themselves as Two Tons O' Fun. LMAO.
Here they are on backup to Sylvester's biggest hit song, "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)"
In 1982 the Weather Girls released their hit song "It's Raining Men". It was co-written by Canadian Paul Shaffer, he of Letterman sidekick fame.
In the 1990's Martha Wash went on to sing vocals for many dance/house acts including Black Box and C+C Music Factory. In fact she had to sue them to get credit as they took her vocals and represented as being the vocals of other better looking female singers. She also sang with house DJ Todd Terry alongside another power voice, Jocelyn Brown.
"Keep on Jumpin"
Her work earned her the moniker "The Queen of Club Land".

when this song 1st came out i thought it was a white girl group...and i always liked it..when i 1st searched for it on You Tube, lo and behold they were Black...a revelation to me..lol
Brandy was one of my favorite songs from its era.
Count On Me was released in 2019 or so. A bit of neo-soul...
back in the day, i was telling everyone who would listen that Mandy by Barry Manilow was not an original song...met with skepticism, so i just shrugged my shoulders and said to myself,,,oh well i tried ..lol..
