No difference than a movie (would you watch a crappy movie solely because it had a local director and filmed downtown over a great film?)

I am quite sure the guys that run a huge and hugely profitable bank know their business a hell of a lot better than we do and they are obviously confident that they will get a good return on this investment.

I don't even think that it is worth questioning the wisdom of their decision.

Have never been to the ACC and never will. I have no interest in sports and would never pay the kind of prices to watch them. Went to Skydome once to watch a Jays game, they lost, but that was only because a friend of mine had free tickets and was long before Rogers acquired it. I hate Rogers so won't be going there again.

Maybe some ethnic group will find something wrong with that statue and protest that it be removed. Seems to be the norm in North America lately.

Well said basketcase . Sports can teach people a lot of things especially teamwork . They always have to learn how to work together regardless if they win or lose. What I really don't understand why people like you feel obligated put down someone's choice of sport or that of their favourite team. If someone likes to watch cricket, I'm like, good for you. Most hockey parents are terrible
I see toddlers (like 6+) being woken up and driven to arenas at 5AM in the morning
I see parents fight each other and refs (gotten so bad they even post signs now)
I see it as a total waste of money and ridiculous commercialism ($50 for a team t-shirt really?) then people wonder (and cry) when someone buys a jersey from Pacific Mall
And lets not even get into the long list of sexual abuse scandals (rivals the church for christs sake)

We only have 3 (maybe 4) major leagues so how is hockey only in "top 5"?
And as for degree of difficulty, 16 out of 31 teams qualify for playoffs, might as well say 16 of 30 since Las Vegas is expansion, so you have far better odds than say baseball or football to win it all.
Even basketball is harder as dominant teams are far more dominant despite similar odds.

If the Great One scores 90 goals in a season or 66 has his point streak you missed most of it
Sad thing is no video of most of their exploits exists either
Oh and throw Islanders dynasty in as well, but at least the Canadiens played them so we saw some of it

For example hockey : Toronto maple leafs and Detroit red wings.
Soccer : Poland, Ireland, Portugal, Italy and spain
basketball : Toronto Raptors , Miami Heat, La Lakers & Golden State warriors

Fans cheer for many different teams they do not only cheer for one , I mean they can but I'm sure its unlikely that they only have one that they cheer for.
