You got that right!

Just goes to show how much Barcalona dick sucking Fifa does.
Except that for the spelling error.

It goes like this: R-E-A-L M-A-D-R-I-D

More ludicrous when you consider Inter knocked out Barcelona en route to the CL final! Bet you if Holland even won the World Cup, Sneijder still wouldn't get recognition!

Wesley Sneijder is a fantastic futbol player and a force on the pitch to be reckoned with. There is absolutely no way to deny that. Any club would be happy to have him and be a better team for it.

What FIFA is acknowledging here is the fact that the same core of FCB players that are in their moment today is the same one that won the World Cup. There is no denying that the combination of Xavi, Iniesta, Pique and Puyol have developed a unique chemistry since their academy days and Messi fits into that combo perfectly. Like a musician joining a band that already has success, a new ingredient brings more life to it.

You all know I'm a Barca fan. Most will say I'm being one sided but this is a particular moment in a team's history. The players have all been born and grown up at the same time where they can historically play well together. This doesn't happen every day. In a few years, another team will have their day and it will be their turn to shine. For now, I will enjoy my Barca glow.

Guardiola's first year as coach got FCB: Champions, La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, Euro Super Cup and Club World Cup. That same core of players went on to win The World Cup and is now making a serious run at another treble.

These are successful efforts than cannot be dismissed. They have been earned.

It was always going to be Xavi for me....such a joy to watch him orchestrate Barca.

The joy of creative bookeeping.

Apparently Barcelona are preparing to hijack Alex Sanchez's transfer from Udinese to Inter. If Juve's lily-liver handling of the Dzeko transfer is anything to go by then Sanchez should be easy pickings. Mario Balotelli went to City for 27 million euros; Udinese president G.P Pozzo will expect nothing less for Sanchez. It will probably take 32 million from Barca to get him to Camp Nau.

Messi crapped out in South Africa, Xavi was the best player of 2010.

No doubt. Messi was the sexy choice but Xavi is the player that makes Barca tick.
Very much agree with that. The boy from Terrassa is a powerhouse of futbol.

For me, Wesley Sneijder was the player of 2010. Not to say Xavi wasn't great as well but Wesley was not surrounded with as good a talent as Xavi was in Cl and WC. Yet, Inter was still able to beat Barca. Spain's win at the WC was pretty much a coronation yet Holland was not necessarily favoured to make the finals.

I beg to differ BM, Inter may not be as flashy as Barca but in terms of physicality they take a back seat to no one. Benitez was unlucky, he got a team with a massive case of WC hangover; against Tottenham Cambiasso, Motta, Stankovic and Mariga were all injured or just returning. Gareth Bale may not have looked like The Dark Knight if Mariga had been bearing down on him every time he got near Maicon.

Sneidjer is like Messi; when opposing defenses get wise to his tricks he tends to fade away. 2010 has turned him into toast, he has scored only one goal this campaign and has yet to play in 2011. With Holland he had Van Bommell and De Jong to create space for him; with Inter's decimated midfield he was like a skunk on a freeway. Now that Inter's midfield has recovered and he returns to action that will change.

- I would take Barca's quality over Inter's physicality
- Benitez is and has always been overrated, too much negativity
- Lotsa teams with WC hangover, Italy didn't make it past the group stage (I know Inter doesn't have ant Italian players but I had to get that one in)
- Lotsa teams get injuries, no excuse...Arsenal didn't complain when we had 6 first teamers out against Barca last year
- Wesley is more of a provider than a finisher, goals don't tell the whole story
Overall, both Xavi and Wesley are great players that had great seasons. However through Wesley's contributions Inter and Holland exceeded expectations. Through Xavi's contributions Barca fell below expectations and at WC Spain MET expectations.
Advantage Wesley, I stand by my opinion and agree to disagree!!!

My respect for the Liverpool owners has reached a new high level, by selling a player who doesnt want to be there for an insanely wacky price, then turning around and buying one of the best young English strikers out there, they have sent a message of we mean business.

+1, however I think they may have paid wacky price as well for a first-year premiership player. But I definitely respect their ambition.

Osasuna 1-0 Real Madrid: Camunas' Strike Sees Los Blancos' La Liga Title Hopes Wither

Real Madrid's title hopes are in tatters after they were defeated 1-0 by Osasuna at the Estadio Reyno de Navarra in Pamplona in their Spanish Primera Division encounter on Sunday evening.

Camunas' second-half strike was enough for the hosts to pick up three valuable points in their fight against relegation and also saw Madrid fall seven points behind league leaders Barcelona. Madrid continued to chase the equalizer but eventually failed, meaning that they are now seven points off the pace and have virtually kissed their title dreams goodbye.

Oh, it's so, so "Special" for a certain "One":p

There's no way Carroll is worth 35 mill but time will tell if it's a good buy. However the EPL has taken it's toll on Torres and he's only shown flashes of his former self. Liverpool has a bit of cash left over to improve the squad.
Let me take you back to a time when King Kenny was manager of a little team called Blackburn Rovers. In 1992 he bought a certain player from Southhampton for a wacky of price, everyone laughed and said he was crazy. That player was Alan Shearer.

Unless Barca slip up (which is unlikely) and Madrid take El Clasico 2 then the only saving grace will be Copa del Ray or the CL. Mourinho and Real may part ways quicker than expected.

Please don't tell me you're comparing one of the greatest English strikers of all time to Andy Carroll???

I hope he does well. Shrek needs a strike partner up front for Euro 2012

i'm a Newcastle fan, and i've watched the kid for the last three years...and lemme tell you, ANDY CARROLL is NO ALAN SHEARER. I think Suarez will be the better signing.
Dalglish signed Alan Shearer in 1992 and he led Blackburn to the title. Shearer had had 3 seasons in Southampton’s first team. In 89-90 Shearer scored three goals in 26 games. In 90-91 it was four in 36. In 91-92 it was 13 in 41. But the British transfer record was smashed for Shearer when he signed for Blackburn at exactly the same age Carroll is signing for Liverpool. By the time he moved Shearer had appeared three times for England, Carroll so far once. In real terms it’s a ridiculous figure, but in football terms Dalglish knows exactly what he’s doing. He wouldn’t waste Liverpool’s money, and he had the chance to back out when Newcastle turned down £30m. He matched Newcastle’s valuation because he knows he’s signing the real deal.

I hope Carroll turns out to be a good buy, and he probably will, but not at 35 mil. I get that there is a premium for English players in EPL, but this is ridiculous. If David Villa went for 30 mil and Suarez goes for 22-23 mil, then I would value Carroll at maybe 10 mil at the high end. As for Dalglish, English football has changed a lot since 1992 when the players were mostly ENGLISH and buying Sherer at that time made some sense. Also, Carroll is a bit of problem child, there is a real chance he could implode under the pressure.
