Ignore them Yen. It's like fighting a losing battle. While true that not all Canadians are anti-american it has sadly become well a hallmark of sorts in the past few years. This is while they: 1) ASre protected by the U.S. military 24-7-365. Free of charge.
2) Export 85% of all goods into america which accounts for over half their trade.
3) Undoubtedly profit handsomely from our pop culture. That includes favorite movies, shows, clothers, music etc.
4) Call us "bullies" whenever a trade dispute occurs.
5) The laughable excuse that "they hate the Bush administration" but not U.S. americans or america in general. Yeah right. Anything and everything in Canada that is even remotely pro-american (eg. Conservative Party, National Post, etc.) is viewed with contempt.
6) It's not anti-american it's "Canadian Soverignty"
7) A gov't funded "news source" at a rate of 1 billion a year of tax dollars dedicated to anti-americanism and anti-semitism. The CBC of course.
8) Iraq is all about Oil. Washington put Saddam into power (Not true) Rather the truth is that we sided with him vs Iran back in 1983 because of Iraq 's oil
Other countries that did so were France, Russia, China, And West Germany.
9) The 1991 Gulf War is okay because Canada was involved.
10) Finally we are all brainwashed puppets who buy into Bush's scare tactics that another terror strike is imminent. Uh and we're supposed to believe it's not? Sadly Canada isn't the first or last to suggest this rather it was local drunk Senator Ted Kennedy who said that Bush was capitalizing on 9-11 to further his political agenda.
Need I go on? In the end many may see America as arrogant but when you can back up what you sday (Walk The Talk) it's not arrogance. Instead it can be called stating the facts.
Let's see, breaking down your arguments:
1. How are we protected by the US military? Who's invading North America? You do realize that the only reason why anyone would invade Canada is to be a staging ground for attacking the US? If the US weren't viewed as a threat to world peace, then Canada would never be in danger.
2. I agree, the US and Canada are strong trading partners. Greatly due to proximity. At the same time, the US profits greatly from this partnership, but it isn't as apparent due to the fact that Canada is 5% the size of the US economy.
3. Mere opinion, there are no facts to backup your statement.
4. Again, mere opinions. Provide facts or you'll just end up arguing back and forth on opinion.
5. Last time I saw, Canadians were less Liberal, to the point of voting in a minority government. This indicates a sway to the right, not the left. So if we're voting in more Conservatives, how is your statement true?
6. Arguing about the meaning of words is pointless.
7. Again, your views are based on opinion. Provide statistics, or links to anti-semetic/american CBC reporting. I recall CBC heavily covering the anti-semite vandalisms a while ago, but I don't recall them supporting such things.
8. Iraq is about oil, yet as an American, you supported the invasion on the basis of terrorism? That makes no sense.
9. The Gulf War was acceptable because Iraq was actively invading another country. I didn't see Iraq come to the US and try to invade you guys this time around.
10. I completely agree that another terrorist strike is either imminent or in the works against the US. However, current actions do nothing but perpetuate such attacks. Kill as many Iraqis as you want, but that's not the answer.
