Here is the other side of the coin. Can your employer fire you if they discover you are an SP on your own time and off company premises? Some companies feel that your behaviour 24/7 reflects on the company itself. Remember when Minister Coates got fired because he was seen outside a German SC?
Ah, those were the days

A smart lawyer will find a Charter argument here.
He could try but I doubt it would work. Even if you won, you'd lose because everyone and his dog would know about you and you'd have to try another career change, but you might win.

In some companies there is a strict policy forbidding sleeping with the boss or even a fellow consenting co-worker.
That is not a moral issue it helps keep the workplace amicable

Two workers sleep together then break up then still have to work together while hating each other ......

My memory is a bit hazy but I thought that there was a recent case in Quebec where a grade school teacher got fired because he had a criminal record (it was either murder or manslaughter). (No, no sex involved.) With the backing of his union, he sued and won and the school had to rehire him.

Hey Rock, I know a few dancers who have "day jobs" and they are always concerned that their employer might find out about their night job. Dancers are exposed because any Tom, Dick and Harry can walk into an SC and see them dancing naked on stage.

Nope, It's very unlikely that I would get caught because I hobby out of the city. Far from my boss, family, and friends. I'm not stupid or careless and I know how to cover my tracks.

actually, not to rain on your parade but that isn't always safe. The world is NOT as big as it once was....

I travelled extensively for business not that long ago and I can't tell you how many people I ran into that I knew, knew me, or knew someone I knew.

You know that saying? what happens in vegas stays in vegas?

How can that happen if there's live webcams all over the place. I know of one at the pool at the hard rock hotel........

Whether it be from being caught by LE during an incall raid, or someone finding out that you hobby and reporting it to your boss, or whatever.
it better be stealing millions from your employer to finance the habit

There is no such thing as totaly without the risk of being outed. That said: Don't hobby at "home," don't patronize incall establishments, be careful what you do and say - you don't have to be rude then again you don't have to tell everything, while you are in a high appointed or elected position - give the hobby a rest, if you know the firm you work for has a real problem with the hobby while other firms do not perhaps you should shift jobs.

This all seems pretty much common sense.

You are hardly "raining on my parade"

First of all I said it was unlikely I never said I was 100% safe. Nobody is 100% safe. There is always a risk that you might get caught, no matter how small. However there is a risk you might get into an accident while driving, even if it's a very small risk. Does that mean you'll never get into a car?

and just because YOU ran into people you knew while travelling doesn't mean that is the case for everyone. I've never ran into anyone I know and I also travel extensively

and in the unlikely event that I do run into someone I know, How would they know I'm there to see an escort? I could be at that incall site for any number of reasons even if they believe I was there to see an escort, They could not prove it.

I've been hobbying for years and like I said I know how to cover myself. If you got caught and lost your job because of it you were either stupid, or careless, and probably both. I have heard of hobbyists using their company phone to book appointments with escorts which boggles my mind.

First of all, outside of specific high-profile occupations (e.g. politicians or priests/ministers) or occupations involving frequent interactions with children (e.g. teachers), I really do not think hobbying could endanger someone's job, as long as one is careful and discreet, i.e. do not announce the fact that you are seeing SPs, do not see streetwalkers, etc. After all, activities that take place outside of work hours and outside of company property (including use of company computers, phones, or Blackberrys) are considered private matters and really do not reflect your abilities on the job (unless there is a specific morality clause, which is already outdated and just may violate labour laws). And how is seeing SPs any different than picking up a stranger from a club and engaging in sexual activities?

My questions are the following:

(1) Under what circumstances would your fellow co-workers or your boss ever find out you are hobbying?

(2) If you are fired, demoted, or denied promotion because of hobbying (or any other private activity taking place outside of work), do you have a case to make for wrongful dismissal under current human rights or labour laws?

Hobbying is entirely a private matter, no one's concern & if anyone pokes his or her nose can be sued for violation of privacy law between two adults:)

I don't do incalls because I don't want my name or face in the news after a raid. It's not worth the embarrasment and legal problems.

I'd be scared of getting caught if I were a priest or rabbi. It would sure as hell interfere with those gigs. By the way, any priests or rabbis here? :p

Great point...likely it would be because they hobby themselves or are in the business part-time---hardly likely to out you in either case!! (if we are talking about real hobbying not SC attendance--that I have actually done WITH a boss in the past)...so you bump into a coworker coming out of MP or an incall--yup the next thing they are going to do is go back to work and spread the word---yeah not hardly likely...

I'm pretty sure my boss has inklings. I used to worry a little when I stretched my lunch to see an SP. Now I don't give a shit. I finish work a lil early to go see someone at times. I just work a little harder to make up for it. As long as it appears I'm doing outstanding work no one cares. Not my fault I excel at my job LOL. Yes ma'am, I'd like an hour please .......... maybe two!
