Give Harper time, give him time.......
Stevie's Hero is Dubya, no???.
I believe Harper's hero is Bobby Orr.

I don't think he really likes Bush but is forced to be nice to him because he's Dubya's bitch. At least that's what the weenie squad says.

LOL!
That sums it up.
Dubya needed a new puppy since losing Blair, so Stevie makes a nice replacement!...:p

What costs? The Liberals made Canada the greatest, most socially conscious country in the world. The Conservatives are well on their way to tear this all apart. God help us if Harper should get a majority.

It's still a bargain compared to the costs of the Liberal's lying and deceit. Or did you forget about that?

You don't have to know someone to know if they're well spoken.

For example, I don't know you, but I know you're not well spoken.

If you're trying to be clever, you've failed miserably.

Really? And all this time I thought it was Canadians that made this country so great.

Anyways peteeey, thanks for the laugh. It's always entertaining when the psychotics lend their unique perspective on things.

Keep listening to those voices in your head and keep telling us what they're saying. If this keeps up, I may cancel my cable.

Actually, I suspect that Baird was just reading off briefing notes that were screwed up. I think he is too smart to lie about something that can be so easily falsified. Besides, if he really does have time to actually spend hunting down these quotes himself, I would say that minister’s salaries are too high given the limited demands on their time that would imply! If that is true, there is a good argument to cut his salary to that of a research assistant! That does not mean that he is not responsible for those who brief him. After all, he would have either directly or indirectly (through his chief of staff) be picking those who brief him. However, there is a difference between having poor judgement when it comes to hire competent research assistants and knowingly lying.
yes, well making a mistake the first time is one thing. But after being directly refuted by the author of the words Baird quoted and took out of context, Baird continues to stand by the claim he made in the house directly refuting Gore's clarification. Mistake or not, it is just stupidity to continue to claim that Gore congratulated the conservatives on their green initiative...

I highly doubt that. Canada isn't the best country at anything socially. When you see all the sh!t on the news, I'm not so proud to be Canadian.

You forgot to mention all the abuse that's gone on, to native kids by priests, to regular kids by priests, by coaches, to women by ashhat bosses, to women by their fathers and uncles when they were little, to women by the husbands or boyfriends, the list can go on.

Then Canada isn't as socially accepting of other races as we make ourselves out to be. Wacker Jack is so worried about being pollitically correct, and that people have rights, that some people actually hate this country now.

The only voices I'm hearing are Conservative lies.

The Churchill comparison was yours. I've read Churchill too but I don't use his proficiency in English as a template against which all others must be judged. I know what I like and I liked that pig wearing a bib analogy. So there!!!!

BTW, who pissed in your corn flakes?

No one pissed in my corn flakes slowpoke. I'm quite alright thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the pig analogy.

Speaking of pigs, I must confess I thoroughly enjoy poking the weenie squad with a stick now and then.

I agree that we have to give ministers a bit of latitude since it would be physically impossible for them to double check everything that is done on their behalf. Everyone makes mistakes etc. But once that type of an error is made, I think the minister should retract the statement with an apology which I don't think has happened. Once Gore claimed he'd been misquoted, Baird should have acknowledged his error out of courtesy.

I have to agree with you on this one. Admitting a mistake (especial one as minor as a misqoute), is not only a demonstration of good character but a demonstration of good politics as well.

Kennedy proved in 1961 that openly admitting mistakes, even big ones, can have a disarming effect. To his surprise, Kennedy's numbers improved after the Bay of Pigs fiasco and led him to exclaim:

"It's just like Ike. The worse we do, the more they like us."

That's a reasonable expectation. To be honest with you, all I really know about this issue is what I've read here.
