The Hammer
where's the love for Godfather 3?

did anyone even like that one?

I personally would rank the Godfather's by order of appearance...

but I guess qualifying it as a 'best' is a stretch

I think I would have liked Citizen Kane better if I didn't have to write an essay on it

The Fountainhead
Excellent first choice. One of my favorite scenes was when Roark bumped into his nemesis, Keating, at a deserted constructed site after several years had passed. Keating says something to the effect "No-ones around. Tell me what you think of me". Roark says "But I don't think of you". The ultimate putdown.

just like picking best record albums of all time, listing my favourite movies of all time is impossible; however, the following had a profound impact on me...

trainspotting (hilarious and horrifying at the same time)
when harry met sally (romantic without being sappy)
apocalypse now (simply mesmerising)
blade runner (best depiction of the future ever)
taxi driver (you talkin' to me?!? classic deniro)
pulp fiction (hip, funny, violent, what more do you want?)
aliens (thrilling from beginning to end)
about a boy (funny, sad, romantic and touching)
the wicker man (a CityTV late night classic, made me want to be a pagan)
angel heart (stylish, scary, and Lisa Bonet naked)
planes trains and automobiles (my alltime favourite comedy)
blue velvet (prime David Lynch wierdness)
all the president's men (great conspiracy movie and a true story)
seven (the most exhilerating downer ever)
the maltese falcon (best script ever written)
it happened one night (see WHMS above. 4 oscar winner in 1934)
charade (somebody mentioned something about Cary Grant, this is one of his best)
rear window (mmm grace kelly)

Seven...somewhat repulsive yet the suspense!
I also love Gweneth! If only she had boobs!
So many more to add but most have been already stated above.
