Has to be the original location. I don't know what is is but the run down ambiance and the Nonas visible in the kitchen somehow make them better than the other locations. Love the spiced olives too.
True.....i tend to enjoy the original location down by dundas. These newer ambience don't make my sandwich taste too good.

Would you boys be disappointed to find out that much of the "veal" in the veal sandwhiches is actually pork?

There is San Remo Bakery on Royal York, just south of Evans and also Messina Bakery on Scarlette, just north of St. Claire.

In the case of Messina, they are making them throughout the day, along with variious other lunch items, all of which are pretty good.

It's been a long time, but what about Commisso's? (When things aren't blowing up.)

They are shit now. Completely fallen out of step with the competition.
But the bread is unbelievable.

Have you tried the California at Dufferin and Castlefield?
If thats the original location, thats the one i was refering too. The one in a residential area. Its been years as i no longer live in downtown area.

I think most of it is actually thinly sliced beef........not real veal. Not enough baby cows to kill in this world in my opinion.

Yeah, the only place I'm familiar with is at St. Lawrence Market. I've enjoyed the veal sandwich with a few hot peppers, sauce spilling out over my hands when I ate it. Troops, I'd like to get your opinion on how the SLM sandwich rates compared to others you've tried.
I've had them there. Downstairs. Usually get the veal/eggplant sandwich. always liked it

That being said!!! Dante's uses the real veal

Is getting expensive though.

Take out does not treat it well also. Better to eat there

I used to go to one in Etobicoke, with some guys from Kodak when I was consulting to them - supposed to have mafia connections as well, from memory...for the life of me i can't remember the name and I am not going to look up my business receipts from that time.

Horrible....didn't like their sandwiches.
I used to get them there 15+ years ago and they were ok. Really dry the last time I remember, with the "new" owners and all. San Francesco's/Francisco's either or can't remember which one, maybe both. The one behind McD's on dundas and Mavis in Mississauga.

Also in Mississauga, Winston Churchill and 403. San Fran's if its still there. Good sandwiches and panzo good enough to kill for. Seriously.
