I am watching the Montreal game now streaming for free. You can watch other sports too. You have to deal with a few pop ups, but once you are through that, it is ok. I have no cable or any other connections other than the internet. You do not have to be a member.

Checked out your link, a lot of channels there.

Whats the quality like, resolution, etc. ?

How fast does the connection need to be ?

My problem is that I record F1 races to watch later, so I guess I would have to be able to record to my computer, and also have my computer connected to my TV.

Thanks, FAST

It does if you bother to do a few minutes of research....

Purchase an IPTV set top box
Purchase live TV subscription for set top box
Watch live sports on your TV.
$45/MTH, and no recording ability.

In addition to my large screen HD TV, I also still have a 27" analogue TV that I watch when I want privacy and/or when I'm in the "doghouse". I get "free" cable from Rogers for this TV, although the channel selection is limited to around 50.

Question: Is this $45 in addition to the monthly Internet charge? If yes, the total monthly cost would be north of $100.
I would assume so,...but you know what "assume" does.

Good question.

Plus F1, etc.

Less popular major league sports (eg F1, FIVB, Rugby, FIFA etc) can easily be streamed for free off EU channels (UK & Germany in particular have great selection)
You do require a VPN though as they block north america

Heck I even found out the CFL is actually available all games live & in HD on European side of the ocean, go figure
Here we get blackouts how strange is that

Netflix is now producing the finest tv shows of them all. If you watch new shows, they can't be beat. Master of None, Bloodline, Kimmy Schmit, Making of a Murderer, etc etc. If you only watch news and sports, you don't need it, but for those of us that don't exclusively, Netflix is the best bargain available.
Hulu is a thousand times better than Netflix for streaming, it also is free (with premium options)

Your place!!
I have bell satellite TV and enjoy it, sports package etc and a lot of channels I don't want, approx $100 a month. Don't know if the new pricing will affect satellite but I'm sure they will rig the cost per channel so that the supplying companies no matter who they are will not be losing any money!

Is it true that satellite is inferior to fibre and can be adversely affected by weather?
I have had it go out with really bad weather, Lightening and rain storms. Snow storms when the dish gets covered with snow, LOL Not really a problem , doesn't happen that often.

I have BELL satellite, and it is flawless HD all the time, no drop outs, except in the summer time during a BIG thunder storm.

Have a FREE PVR/RCVR that can record 150 HRS of HD, and can pause/rewind live TV, $55/mth, including sports.

Even fiber internet can drop out, if that is what you are talking about.

My gigabit internet connection went out once for two hours when I was binge watching TV, I had to suffer with only the LTE on my phone. It took me five minutes to get my TV connected through a WiFi hotspot on my phone.

if you aren't about news or sports, HULU is all you need. and you can get huluplus AD free for 15 a month. its basically all current network tv a day later, plus a decent library of older tv and some movies.

The bottom line is that it's feasible to cut the cable cord if you're not interested in watching live sports. But if you want to see live sports, you're not going to be able to get the variety for cheaper than cable.
