Has your car ever been stolen/carjacked?

"A car is stolen every 48 minutes in Ontario, according to a new report issued by insurance platform HelloSafe.ca, and some makes and models are more popular targets than others. According to the insurance platform’s data, the top three most stolen cars of the year in Ontario are the 2018 Lexus RX, the 2019 Honda CR-V and the 2019 Honda Civic."

My car has roll down windows and manual door locks.
Many years ago I saw a woman in a parking lot using a wire coat hanger to try and open her car door. So, I said let me try. Got it open in seconds.

She said you're really good with that wire coat hanger.

I said is this really your car?

One of the benefits of having an old klunker is it is less likely to be stolen. My car has roll down windows and manual door locks.
What year and model?

What year and model?
Mid-2000's Mazda 3.
Power locks and windows were $1000 extra. I passed on them and have never regretted it. In fact, when the time comes for me to buy my next car I'll miss having the option of manual locks and windows.

I regret not fixing up my 2007 Mazda 6 sports sedan. It was manual, and has 200HP, so fun to drive. But when I moved provinces, I was told it would cost $2,000 to pass inspection.

So instead I got a 2007 BMW 323i. Very fun car to drive, but it's automatic.

Damn, I forgot to look. However, she did compliment me on my wire hanger skill. Always happy to help a woman in distress.

Anyway, I keep having this feeling I helped a woman steal a car. But she did say her keys were locked inside her car.

Manual transmission.

Funny story. A friend took his car in to Green and Ross for some work to be done. The manager gave the keys of my friend's car to one of the mechanics, guy comes back 2 minutes later and said "It's manual, I can't drive it".
lol

I can't imagine driving anything but manual, just so damn fun and you're literally one with the car, dropping gears, passing cars, down shifting to slow down, less brake wear, etc.
Young kids today will have fun touch screen displays, auto-pilot and all that in a few years , but it's not the same.
If a camera fucks up going in reverse they'll panic, I can park in reverse with a solid wall on the right side of the car within 2 inches and not stress.
This car has 500,000 original clutch. Other car still a young baby, less than 10kms but manual and it's a dream toy car. But I drive the 500,000km car more, it gives me too many smiles and makes me feel good driving it.

Never had my car stolen because they go after high end cars. However, had several bikes stolen and they were all "beaters". My high end bike never leaves my sight.
