Looks like Carney is putting aside politics and putting the country first by asking a seasoned politician for advice
there is no way in hell Carney wanted his discussion with Harper to become public knowledge
Are you really that naive ?

.As far as you saying he's out of his league?
the lack of a trade deal and his caving to Trump on the social media tax suggest yes he is out of his league

I don't think so, he done a great job so far certainly better than Poilievre could have.
he won the election by promoting a crisis .... and then he went on summer vacation
Poilievre would have worked until there was a solution

Come back to reality. Unless there is a joint effort between nation to protect our interest against America, No one can win, because they're too big to take on.

I thought Carney was connected all over the world. What happened to that?
who was going to be the first to side with Carney and tell the US they have no interest in a US trade deal and would rather stand in solidarity with Canada?

Nobody that's who

meanwhile these potential partners have already been frustrated trying to sell dairy products into Canada

We are setting new records with trade to other nations as we speak. Feel free to Google it at your leisure. Almost 48 billion for May alone.

And these things don't turn on a dime. Don't be stupid.

Oh yes, our 40 million population, with our huge dairy domestic production and surplus, is the primary trade target of nations.

Absolutely not oil, gas, lumber, minerals, car parts, steel, aluminum etc.

Why are you so obsessed with this?

It’s not like you could reach out to Trudeau, Trump hates that guy.

Pee Pee still comes off as a used car salesman. LMAO

I would be happy dancing for months if he lost this election. I don't believe he will but omg it would be so satisfying.

Pierre Poilievre part of Battle River-Crowfoot debate, 10 candidates speak out of over 200

The Canadian dairy industry is the fear-mongering topic of choice for US politicians. The easy target to say out loud how unfair the Canadians are. But it's all bull shit.

I have a cousin who long ago replaced themselves at the farm with employees, put on a tie, and started buying quotas. They are on paper multi multi millionnaires. They refused to sell their assets to the Chinese numerous times. Do they have offers from American farmers? Nope. Nada. The Americans do not see the need to change their production to adapt to the Canadian market with better milk. They would then have to sell it at the same price as Canadian farmers (contrary to Canadians who are afraid they would dump the market...).

That's not the issue. We have industries that are in direct threat and will suffer from these tariffs.

Your spin cycle is out of control.

Yes. And it is all Trump's fault. 100%. Your spin that somehow Carney is responsible is ridiculous. Trying to deal with a scammedr, a cheat, and a liar and expecting a positive outcome is bad enough. Expecting a fast one is worse.

My point is that we are already finding new markets. You don't think we can sell steel and aluminum to Europe? LNG and Oil everywhere else in the world?

As for the auto industry bets it gets settled in favor of the car companies?

Im being realistic. I fully understand some industry will get hurt. 100% on Trump. Because his default position is an unfair deal. In this case no deal may be the better option.

and at the same time US is also making new record trades with the EU and Asia...this is one relationship Canada can't afford to severe it's ties. It will hurt us more than it hurts them...why do you think EU tucked it's tail behind it's legs a few days ago? the US market is still the biggest market. Carney can still make the deals, He just has to put aside his pride and not patronize the left about fighting Trump...there's no fighting Trump...being defiant only makes it difficult to deal with the felon.

Brought the provinces together to drop trade boarders
Negotiated with European countries to supply natural gas and oil
Opened new trade deals with China
Has made Trump look like a complete idiot in trade negotiations
Negotiated with other countries to supply aluminum and steel by passing the states and keeping workers employed. Google it
He has done none of those things exceot the first 1.

Carney is the top decision-maker is he not? I would hate to think people voted for a guy who takes no responsibility at the highest position in the country.

The steps Carney has taken have been either miscalculated or had minimal success.

Carney's main reason for voting for him was he was the only candidate capable of dealing with Trump.

In reality, it was just another Liberal government selling dreams.
