Currently 3rd in their group...and this team peaked in France 98
No offense Big_E but talk about something you actually know something about. But then we wouldn't see any posts by you now would we.

2 points from 1st place , game in hand and 7 games left out of a 10 game qualifying schedule. Yeah they are so far out it ain't funny.

no offense but I'm right

prove to me they're good, simply put you cant

Croatia stinks end of story
My comment was more a jab at new_baller in a light hearted way then anything else.

And you are not right. The Croats have been notorious for always not qualifying til the end. If you follow the history of that team you would know that. And as previously stated, look at the standings. When one qualifies out of UEFA I don't hink any team really stinks.

PS. If they stink how come Italy has yet to beat them?

haters...

Unless you guys are Brazilian, and judging by the fact that you can actually string together a sentence, i'm assuming that you're not Brazilian then. You can not say anything negative about a team and country that has the second most World Cup's.

N_V aka the croatian sensation...where to I begin with you? You say that Italy hasn't beaten Croatia, well I'm assuming that you're using the 2002 World Cup group phase as your background when we lost 2-1 to Croatia....well...do you remember who actually qualified out of that group? Let me give you a hint...it wasn't Croatia. How many World Cup's or Euro Cup title's or second places finishes do Croatia have? Oh yah...NONE. And for your information....Italy has beaten the former Yugosalvia many times in International competitions. Plus half your national team play in and live in Italy, and I figure that they also want to be Italian as well.

The_Big_E aka. the guy who said "italy stinks too". where do you fit in to all this and why the hell are you bashing Italia? I figure it's jealousy. You're obviously jealous that whatever country you come from originally (i'm assuming somewhere in Great Britain) you do not have a tradition of winning and celebrating glory on the pitch...unless you count brutal fan violence and having the most innocent people killed during a game as a victory for you guys. You didn't have to had you're two cents in to N_V's little rant about poor little Croatia and their crappy soccer team by putting down the proud and victorious footballing nation that Italy is.

Let me re-cap for all the "haters" out there:

-3 World Cups
-the most powerful and dominant league in the world (Serie A)
-2004 under-21 Euro Champions
-countless runners-up or 3rd place finishes in the World Cup and Euro Cup
-1 Euro Cup and 1 Olympic Gold Medal, plus last year's Olympic Bronze Medal

The facts speak for themsleves, plus the fact that Italy qualifies every time for every major tournament. We don't pull an England and fail to qualify. Plus we don't hire non-Italian coaches to coach our National teams.

Keep on hating Italy...it's OK too....it's just a sign of how much you respect and envy you have for us.

No actually. I am talking about the 4 times they have met. One being that WC 2002 and twice for Euro qualifiers, one of which Croatia beat your sorry ass on your home field. And the 4th being a friendly. All 4 games Italy has failed to score 1 single victory.

Again my point stands. Italy has yet to beat Croatia.

If Croatia is crappy, what does it say about Italy who can't beat them in , count it, . FOUR meetings??

Before I start slinging out the real shit on you....I'm going to take a deep breath and just remind myself that you are Croatian....enough said. You haven't even been a country long enough for us to beat your ass. Until you gain some respect by winning a major tournament or trophy, or how about just working on all your domestic woes first...then we'll talk buddy.

Besides Tudor and Simic, I haven't even heard of any other chump player on your loser team. You dare laugh or poke fun of Italian strikers, you must be drunk or just too stupid to realize these names: Baggio, Del Pierro, Veiri, Zola, Di Canio, Signori, Totti, Cassano, Gilardino, Montella...just to name a few over the past decade, nevermind our history.

All the non-Italian TERBite football fans can at least agree that Croatia is a second-rate footballing nation, with no infrastructure and no trace of a decent domestic league. I even have to agree with The_Big_E when he said that you guys peeked in 1998....I'll go one further and say you fluked it off in 1998. You guys are just a flash-in-the-pan, one-time wonder....it doesn't matter if you beat Italy in the whole 4 games we've even played you....you don't have what it takes to win and you have no tradition of winning in your heritage.

keep dreaming that dream. one day you can hope to attain what we've attained.

YAWN.
It doesnt say anything N-V. Croatia just happens to be Italy's bogey team.
Every country has one of those.

I still respect Italy because they are capable of winning any tournament they are in.
Thats not something you can say about a whole lot of countries.

Oh and BTW I'm not Italian :)

And even still you can't in the few times the 2 countries have faced each other.

A bunch of also rans who the ITALIAN media glorify. These guys have lots of glory in the domestic leagues, but in the world stage they haven't done much. Any football knowledge person, publication, website, TV Show, newspaper knows that.

I'm with n_v on this one...Italy is SO over-glorified.

3 world cups? 2 of which were pre wwII....They won the World Cup in 1982. Then years of disappointment, you cant discount that. Last few tournaments they've become synonymous with choking for a team that shouldnt. Let's see, Euro 2004 didnt even get out the group stage and scored an amazing 3 goals!
World Cup 2002 lost to South Korea, yes South Korea. Euro 2000 blew the lead with 90 seconds left and lost. And so on...Doesnt amount to too much "success" to me. When they win something they'll get recognition, they havent, so they dont deserve any and should be continually bashed!

PS Del Piero stinks

Add to the fact that if the Dutch knew how to take penalty shots the Italians would have been out sooner.

Anywho, dont forget tomorrow is the Inter game on TSN. My final pick had better kick some ass!!!
I'm on with on that. I took them too. If Inter ties 0-0 they go ahead. If they tie 2-2 they are out. 1-1 goes to overtime and possibly shotout.

You are truely a peice of work my croatian friend....such hatred of Italy...such jealousy...and you too big E....pathetic.

I won't continue or add to this "bashing" back and forth anymore except to point out something sooooo stupid that you said regarding some of the greatest players to play the game. Vieri 3rd in scoring in 2002, Vieri 2nd in scoring in 1998, Baggio 2nd in scoring 1994, Schillaci 1st in scoring 1990, Rossi 1st in scoring in 1982, and this is just at the World Cup level. And you say in the world stage they haven't done anything???? How about the 2 Champions League victories that Juve won? Del Piero was the backbone of those teams...scoring and setting up everyone else.

Please n_v, before you speak again....put down the 160 proof Croatian booze and think straight.

Thanks Escohort my non-Italian football-loving brother for the support, you are a true fan.

In closing, I have to say this: I am Italian....I love my national team...YES...but I love the game of football first, and can objectively talk about the sport without the "italian goggles" on. I am comfortable talking about all the good footballing nations and players around...not just Italian's...cause yes we havne't won in awhile....but we ALWAYS have the potential and ability to win. Plus our league is the best.

Forza Azzurri,

NB

p.s.- Inter will win easily tomorrow and i'll be 6 out of 8 with my picks, plus do I need to mention that 3 ITALIAN teams will be remaining!!!

Jealous of what?

I'm not trying to pick a fight here but...all those statistics are nice but they havent added up to international success in the last 23 years. They are perennial favourites - as they should be - but they never put it all together. I'm sorry, but that cant be argued.

fair enough big_e,

but please answer me one question? what's your background? who do you cheer on? cause it obviously isn't Italy or Croatia.

just curious. I'd say your of British decent, but you'll probably tell me you root for Germany, or better still....Brazil. Oh no wait....you have to be Portugeuse to do that! LOL

keep it real anyways,
