Let me correct you. You have probably 500 qualified potential candidates for each USSC seat. These are well known and accomplished lower court judges, top level DoJ litigators, respected civil rights lawyers and top law school professors. Literally probably 500. Each potentially brings something different in terms of personality, insights, life experience and wisdom to that possible appointment.
It's not a case of 1 of the potential candidates scored 98.7% on the "judginess scale" and the others scored 95% or less. They are ALL perfectly qualified, but have different views, insights and experiences. Why wouldn't the selector opt for a PoC or woman rather than the traditional white male choice??
