I guess it all sounds good when convincing your flock to elect you because you are going to fight the province...how did that work out? Feel like you were played yet?
...and now the ball is in Trudeau's court...let's see how he f*cks this up or how much he's willing to donate for votes.

At the centre of the agreement, however, is Ontario Place, suggesting Chow has traded away a key campaign promise.

Ford said on Monday that Toronto had “accepted” the province could control the planning of the Ontario Place project.

During the mayoral campaign, she pledged to fight against the plan and withhold city land and support to slow the project. The new funding for Toronto may mean the end of that promise.

The new deal means the province will be allowed to take control of planning the project, suggesting the city will step down its opposition and allow the plan to build a spa on public lands to go ahead.

Conditional on federal support, Ontario has also said it will help with funding services for homelessness and asylum seekers.

So, the Gardiner goes back to making sense. Ontario place hopefully gets the facelift it needs, more Subway trains, more money for housing, much closer to a balanced budget.

Chow actually did good here in capitulation. She realized it was a no win to fight the province. I'm surprised.

I guess she is getting a bit more conservative in her old age.

The city gets $1.2 billion and she can still get the feds to stop the spa.
And the city doesn't have to pay for the DVP or Gardiner.

Sounds pretty smart.

Did she say she would do it or she would try?
Broken promises are not lies unless you can prove she intended to make deal for the DVP all along.

Nowhere during the campaign did she say "she would try". No one votes for a candidate that says they will try.

She promised...she pledged...she sucked you in...and did the opposite.

I would call that a lie wouldn't you?

(ps careful with your response as it will be used against you when you say someone lies.)

I think off loading DVP and Gardiner is great for Toronto. I don't really care much about Ontario Place TBH. Also Toronto should be able to cut 50-100 cops as the OPP takes over on DVP and Gardiner. The TTC take over of the lines improves the pool of funds and integration.

Those 50 to 100 cops can be sent to the subways and streets to battle crime as they should.

O Chow is bloody useless anyway, Ford took back Gardiner to protect it from fallen into disrepair whereas she wanted to tear it down, don't trust a word she says, and next time, order Chow Mein from T&T instead of voting for O Chow.

The only capitulation here is from Druggsie.

$1.2billion over 3 years to Toronto and the schluffing off of the DVP and Gardiner onto Druggsie ample lap.

She has accomplished in just 4 1/2 months what your #2 idol, Long Done Tory, couldn't accomplish in over 8 years as mayor. BTW, Olivia has also accomplished in just 4 1/2 months more than your #1 idol, Druggsie lone gone bro, demolished in his time as psycho mayor.

There really was/is NOTHING that the City of Toronto can legally do to prevent Druggsie from proceeding with his scatterbrained scams for Ontario Place. The possibility of building the underground parking lot at the CNE as proposed by Chow would be a good trade-off for the overall horrible situation at Ontario Place as it would free up the current Ontario Placer surface parking lot for more green space by the lake.

Druggsie has so many self-inflicted wounds that he really has no other option than to bend over and take it up his arse in demonstration after demonstration of his self-serving penance tour on issues and files that are so contrary to his ideology.

Admit, she's doing a great job and it burns the righties ass.
It sure does raise "whine bar" to heretofore unseen levels of wailing.

I figured you would show up for this one.

The province is uploading what should be. So quite simply you are going to have to admit(at least to yourself) that Ford is doing the right thing. I think Chow is as well. Both are being responsible, not allowing ideology get in the way of what's right. Chow clearly saw the need after the pandemic sprnding and Feds fucking up immigration the need to work with someone responsible enough to actually achieve things.

The province always had legal control of Ontario Place and can legally do whatever they want to do with it. And no amount of legal intervention by the City of Toronto can undo the provinces legal control.

In fact, the province can do legally do whatever it wants with parts of or the whole of City of Toronto. They can abolish city council, install a 'puppet' administration of their choosing and drive bull dozers throughout the city.

You really have no idea what you are whining about, now do you?

Yeah, whenever I think of someone smart, dynamic, responsible and uncorrupt, I think of Doug Ford. 😹 😹 😹

Give it a rest.

Druggsie would be doing Druggsie in regards to the City of Toronto, that being doing shit fuck all, if he hadn't repeatedly self-inflicted a savage beating upon himself with his myriad of scandals upon scandals.

Politically, he had no choice but to take the '1.2billion and the Gardiner and the DVP' right up his ass.
