it must be frustrating for them to do all the work / take all the risks to catch a criminal and then watch as he / he is set free again
But it's not the criminal's fault...It's everyone else's. So we should be ashamed of ourselves and cut them loose every time they commit a crime.
Now can we get back to renaming parks please. How do we expect to fix any problems if we have an epidemic of offending park and street names out there????

Only a small percentage of the population commit crimes which are of interest to the police departments. If all of them were held in custody, crime statistics would decrease, and we would have more police officers than we would need. Cops would need to pursue petty crimes, where the cost of prosecuting would far outweigh the small fines imposed if the perpetrators are convicted.

It's not anarchy. Crime rates are far lower than most countries.
3 strikes is stupid and has been discredited in the USA. You have massive institutional rates and costs that the taxpayer pays. And people who could turn their life around and contribute end up spending their lives in jail while the taxpayer foots the bill.

Canada doesn't have the infrastructure to lock up all criminals at will. Harper wanted to build Superprisons, they have become money pits to the jurisdictions that have them. One of the reasons why Harper lost the 2015 Election. The TPA got confused during the debate, they didn't know if that was PP or John Wayne.
