This situation should get everyone enraged. I agree with your anger but "shot dead" doesn't work if, like me, you don't believe in capital punishment. Maybe what should happen is that life imprisonment shoukd mean life -- not a walk out the door after 25 years.

I think before he is shot dead, all of the guys in his cell block should get 20 minutes with him

Maybe... public physical castration followed with a frontal labotomy would be suitable, after the guys in the cell block have had their time with him

It would sure act as a deterrent for others

See what piss me off is the fact that the correctional people put these bastards in protective custody. No need for capital punishment if they just put them in Gen Pub.

I think if we had the death penalty these sick bastards would get what they deserve. I think the parents should decide how they die that would be perfect .

Behind You
Not only put into the General Prison Population, but subjected to HARD LABOUR. Make the SOB's wish for death. Make sure that the media publically shows what life is like under those conditions so that every other sick bastard out there thinks twice.

Any bleeding hearts out there that disagree with me, I have the following advise. You take them in and be responsible for them while at the same time reporting to the victims families on how you are helping to reform the sick bastards.

Anyone remember Papillon. Put 'em all on an island somewhere - instead let's make the island in the Arctic Circle.

Positive Thoughts

At this stage I am trying to think positive thoughts for Cecilia and her family.

The fact that she appears to have been abducted from her bedroom seems to suggest that she was specifically targeted and not a random assault by a paedophile. If this turns out to be true, it may actually be (slightly) good news for the family. If she was specifically selected by her assailant, it is more likely that there was a specific reason she was chosen. Perhaps it's some fucked-up custody issue or a more traditional kidnapping for ransom. I'm hoping that whoever did this wants her alive.

It is truly frightening to think that children are not secure even in the supposed safety of their second-storey bedroom. Every parent in the city is touched by this tragic event and the lives of thousands of children will never be the same.

I remember that, as a child, I walked to school at a young age, played in neighbourhood parks with only other friends for company, rode my bike all around, and was completely safe in the process. Obviously, those days are gone and children in this city will have to be kept close at all times. I understand the necessity but I mourn for the loss of the freedom that I enjoyed. I think it is a huge loss to the current generation of children that they cannot enjoy some of the simple pleasures of childhood the way I once did.

I know that things look bleak right now and, perhaps, we may never know the whole story, but as long as there is hope, I am wishing that things turn out for the best.

Very strange how this person broke into a ground floor room, then abducted the girl from the second storey without the parents hearing. Apparently there was a tenant around also who "thought he heard something". Something doesn't really fit. Why would someone go through all that trouble just to target a certain child.

I'm glad I have a dog in the house. The dog would would have gone apeshape at the first sound of someone breaking in.

Just a hunch, and I expect to be flamed for this, but I have a feeling that at some point, we may find that the girl's father owes money to someone, or refused to pay "insurance", or something like that. There's no question that the abduction is a despicable act, but it may not be a random act. Let's all hope she's found alive and well.

Okay, I see your point...maybe not shot dead, how about lethal injection?

Put yourself in the parent's shoes. What if this was your baby girl or son? I wouldn't want this asshole being out on parole or living in some half-way house when he's done his 'lifetime' sentence. I say we bring back capital punishment for crimes against children. I personally do not want my taxes going to this prick for the rest of his life....or Carla's law degree for that matter. Really fucked up system we have in this country.

Let me ask you this...lets say this was your house, and you happened to get your family to a safe area before anything happened. You and your family are all in a room when the door opens and you see an intruder. If you had a gun, tell me you would not pull the trigger. If you didn't have a gun, tell me you wouldn't wish that you did have one. Where would you draw the line to protect your family or loved ones? If you wished you had a gun or said you would pull the trigger, how is that different from wishing that we had capital punishment in this country? What difference does it make if you pull the trigger in self defense or someone else hits a button for lethal injection (besides the extra tax payer's money)?

I REALLY hope they find her alive, and I hope this bastard dies.

there are several differences between pulling a tigger while the act is being committed and pulling the trigger several months later. You are right i would do whatever it takes to protect my family at that moment but after that moment it is in the hands of the law.

Capital punishment isn't justice it is vengeance. an eye for an eye isn't going to help ease whatever pain we feel.

There has been too many frequent abductions and murders with kids and these culprits (bastards) should be found, shot and pissed on!

I agree with someone who posted about how the fate of the convicted should be in the hands of the parents after a crime such as murder or rape has occured against their children. If they want him/her to die from lethal injection, so be it. If they want the convict to be imprisioned for life, so be it as well.

We could sit here all day behind our computer screens and argue back and forth about whether or not capital punishment serves justice. The truth is, without EXPERIENCING the horrible feeling of our children being raped or murdered, our opinion does not mean shit and is biased. You'd be surprised to see how many activists against capital punishment would change their views if anything of such nature (god forbid) ever happened to their children.
