Sounds like he had a gambling addiction that drove him insane.
To pay off his big gambling debts his brilliant idea was to rob SP's.

Anyway, it's hard to believe that if a guy is going to kill someone he would send emails to them beforehand and set up a nice trace leading back to the IP address on his blackberry. And then to top it all off he parades around inside a high end hotel with recording cameras all over the place. Good thing for cops so many killers and bank robbers etc are so stupid.

The SP could have had lots of men coming and going caught on camera in the hallway so how do they know it's him. He pleaded not guilty.

Philip Markoff gets marks off for acting like an idiot. I know little of the facts of this case as of yet (I am on vacation) but it seems the guy had an affectionate finacee and was at Med School so had lots to live for. Lots of people have debts - no reason to rob and kill people, esp. women.
