Craziest Thing That's Happened to YOU on the TTC?

Years ago.

Late at night. There's about 5 or 6 people on a car. A couple, some other guy, an older woman, and this Yuppie with blondish hair, glasses, the trench coat working on his lap top (late night at the office?). You know the type.

Everyone just wants to get home.

Train pulls up to the next platform.

A single man, looks like a street bum, staggers up to the door. "Oh great" I say to myself, "Here we go".

The bum is obviously loaded. He's even got his paper bag with him. But does he get on the train?

No, he stands in the doorway of the car blocking the doorway, all bleary eyed.

The four Sesame Street tones sound. Da, dum, da, dum....

He's still in the doorway.

More tones. He's still in the doorway.

Somebody calls out something to the effect, "Get out of the doorway" But he just stands there smirking, or more acurately, he's leaning there.

Then up gets Yuppie Dude.

At first I'm figuring, "ok, here comes Labour Relations and Negotiation 101"

The Yuppie just strides along the aisleway, never breaking stride and just heaves off and does a fast strike and push with both arms to the bum's chest. The bum goes sailing backwards right on his ass half way across the platform. The doors close and off we go into the night.

The Yuppie never makes eye contact, just walks back to his seat, doesn't say a word and resumes typing on his laptop. A slight pulse visible in his temple.

I am forced to use the TTC to get to work every day. From Finch subway to King Street.

The craziest was one day the train ran normally from Finch to King, no stopping between stations, no passenger emergencies. I got to work in 30 minutes instead of the normal 1.5 hours.

One morning, a woman and her child get on. The mother, tells the 8yr.old if someone try s to sit down beside you ask them to say excuse me before you move the school bag! I am watching old lady waving to the child to let her sit down! Mother top of her voice, say excuse me to the child! This scene goes on with a couple people they sit elsewhere on the car, can't be bothered with crazy woman.
Then a old woman says, black bitch leave your uppitty bitch attitude at home if you ride the etc. At that point I had to leave for my stop. Felt sorry for the child that had go through this embarrassment the mother started!

Took the Vomit Rocket one night many, many years ago and witnessed one of our finer citizens volumulously throw up on the floor. It pooled up and slowly trickled down toward the driver since we were literally going downhill. The driver stopped at the next stop and "escorted" said cretin off of the bus. If I was the driver I would have dragged that idiot through his own sick before kicking him off.

NYC Subway heading into the Bronx on New Years night I saw a doosey of a fight.

I was on the TTC late at night and two drunk guy's were in the same car. One of the drunk guy's shouted out "I smell pussy", and of course there were several woman in the same car. I never saw so many dirty looks in my life. Then one of the drunk guy's spreads the doors open while the train is in motion. He now nearly has his head stuck between the doors and is struggling to remove his head. Luckily his buddy was smart enough to help him, as no one wanted to tangle with two belligerent drunk guy's.

I remember taking the southbound subway at Yonge and Bloor. The northbound train pulls in. I look across and there's this 30ish year old guy sitting there. I see him digging hard in his nose. Then he calmly wipes the boogers on the wall of the car next to him. Then he repeated it.

It was then and there that I decided I really, really, really hated public transit.

I sat accross from her
Hey Doc, I can't top that story but it has happened to me several times when I sat across the aisle from a young woman (usually a schoolgirl in her extremely short skirt) who would hike up her skirt to show me the colour of her undies.

I am surprised that non of the women have said anything about being groped ..
Never actually been groped by a woman but it has happened several times where women have rubbed up against me when the car was crowded or somewhat crowded. One time I was holding on to the top horizontal bar and the lady next to me did the same thing and she was pressing her breasts against my elbow. Another time a woman with a "generous" size bum pressed her bum against my pelvis.

Not really weird stories.
One time I forgot my jeans on the subway (don't ask). Later the same day, I called "lost and found" and somebody had turned it in. Another time I found a lady's purse and I took it to the fare collector's booth.
Do you have any "lost and found" stories?

Witnessed a suicide in the subway one morning.
So sad. One of my friends had a summer job with the TTC for a couple of years. He was on the clean up crew. He said that there are many suicides that go unreported. In fact, when the subway is held up (ill passenger"), more times than not it is because of a suicide.

Please don't call me a racist. One time I got on a fairly crowded subway train and didn't see one white face (ok maybe one).

Not a crazy incident, about 14 yrs back I was about to walk onto subway car when Liza Fromer(when she was still on weather network) walked out of car. She actually made eye contact with me and checked me out!

A few yrs ago when she was on BT, I was walking to movie theatres on Queen st near Much Music building in afternoon when I noticed a hot looking blonde waiting for a cab. As I was approaching (recognized it was her)and was about to pass her , I could see that she was checking me out again!
That was you? We broke up because of her wandering eye...

I only occasionally ride the rocket now. But in the past, I've sat in the single seat just behind the operator's door and fingered my date. It must have been about 1:30 am. Back when the bars closed at 1.

I saw a drunk pass out and piss himself in the late 80's.

I saw animal right's activists throw "blood" on people wearing fur.

When I was younger (and much thinner), I had a woman rub her ass by "accident" for several stops against my crotch. She must have known what she was doing because I remember getting wood and thinking that it was better than going to Zanzibar (which was topless only at the time).

I wonder if some of the wilder behavior has tamed down because there are now cameras in the trains?

I drive a TTC bus. When I started I was afraid people were going to be a huge problem.

I have been doing it for 1 year. I could drive subway but I do not want to see jumpers. I am surprised that most people are polite with very little trouble.

I try to be nice for if there is a bad passenger the rest of the passengers will stick up for me.

This one guy smeared his feces that he was carrying in a bag on the seat.

One homeless guy smelled so bad he cleared the bus out and I had to put the bus out of service.

Biggest problem are cheaters. Most popular cheat is to throw in a dime and using bad transfers.

However the TTC has a policy that we do not challenge them as challenging cheaters is the number one reason for assault.

TIP : we have the right to allow people on for free. Ask the driver politely and you will get on. Say you left your wallet at home.

TTC is extremely lax on drivers collecting the right change.
