Do you really think some Cuban girl is going to get on a plane, finally get out of Cuba and then, one month later just gingerly get back on a plane and willfully return?

You're dreaming!

She'll take off as soon as she's here and find Cuban friends in Canada (she'll have looked into this from there before she gets here) then she'll disappear on you and when it's established she's here illegally, you're the one LE will squeeze for answers since you brought her here in the first place. Your name will now be attached to a file of a 'non-desireable' and you'll end up having a series of conversations that you wish you had nothing to do with.

I've seen this happen with three of my Toronto friends and my own Cuban male friends (both here and there) advise against doing this themselves.
I met a girl two years ago who was engaged to a European guy. We spent some time together then I lost contact with her. I bumped into her again this year. It turns out she had gotten married and moved to Europe. She was separated and getting divorced. She had returned to Cuba because she didn't have much of a life in Europe. They lived in a city that didn't have much to offer and she had traded one miserable life for another.

She has been back in Cuba since May this year, and keeps putting off her return to Europe... A Cuban guy that works on my project is also disillusioned. He had a more comfortable life in Cuba, he is away from his wife and children. If things don't improve for him in a few months, he is moving back.

I believe many of them believe life outside of Cuba is the land of milk and honey with untold riches for everyone. Once reality sets in, many actually want to go home. I think that if they have the freedom to travel, once they get a taste of the outside world and the responsibilities they have to survive here, quite a few return to home comforts and family.

Not to say than the majority wouldn't jump at the opportunity to move away, it is best to look into the legal ramifications before offering anyone a trip to Canada under your name.

So Cubans are too high risk to bring here and meanwhile, the Canadian women are as bitchy as usual. So we're stuck ... which really blows big time!

Listen to Senor Draper. Why oh why do you want them here? They will be corrupted by North American ways. In Cuba, YOU are Tony Montana amigo! Up here, your status is below women, children and family pets.
LOL. Below pets!

once they learn what the word A-L-I-M-O-N-Y means from new female acquaintances here, you'll wish you hadn't.

what kind of trouble can i get in ..Draper mentioned some kind of list i would be put on. I dont get it, I helped her get a visa but she ran off how is this my problem ? Im guessing with the visa there is some kind of contract that your responsible for her. there has to be a way to get this to work. We can all bring the talent to us instead of going down every few months.

Once they are here, they don't need you anymore and will be just like any other north American female!

I've heard of only one success story between a Canadian guy and a Cuban girl. They have been married for over ten years and live in Montreal. But that is the only example I know of. There's also another case where I Canadian woman married a Cuban guy and she's been living in Havana for the past 16 years.

Really, you need 'sponsorship' and 'Letter of Invitation' explained?

Dont know if getting a VISA and sponsoring someone into Canada is the same thing. If you sponsor someone in Ontario, and for whatever reason she bails after 2 months, and she ends up on OntarioWorks or ODSP, as the sponsor your screwed! As the sponsor you are on the hook for every penny that was paid out to the receiptiant until that person gets off assistance, because you are financially obligated to take care of that person thorugh the sponsorship period. The Province will collect through your Income Tax and GST credits, if you dont come up with a repayment plan.

I have heard hundreds of sad stories. The financial risk is horrific!

A Cuban national can get a visa, maybe, hopefully with time and resources. Every time they apply for a visa it's about a $100.00 cost, whether they get it or not, just to apply. How many Cubans have $100.00 to apply for visas or buy food, clothes, rent, etc.

If they can't get a Visa then marriage, sponsorship or Invitation is the next course of action.

Read the above.

He's well off , so thats not hte point. the real point is he asked me and i could not answer his question. One of my other freinds has a family down there and pays i think $50 a month to help his kid out. Im just curious if this lady he has the baby with can screw him in anyway ...This could also help me one day who knows.

My brother-in-law has kids in two different countries in S. America. He's under no legal obligation to provide child support to the kids but does so anyways. He actually visits those kids annually while he pays abt 40 times in child support to the ex he has here in Canada. Loves his kids equally. Great guy!
