I am taking my G level Road Test next week and had a few questions for anyone who has taken this test recently .

If you made any errors during the test Id appreciate knowing what they were (if you remember). That way I can practice that stuff and make sure I dont commit the same errors.

Would also appreciate any tips anyone can offer.

Forget how you drive normally and drive the way the book tells you to.

- hand over hand turns
- be able to reverse park
- Parallel park
- Be able to drive on the highway
- DO NOT impede traffic or you fail.

Based on that, 90% of the drivers on the road would fail the test. It should be legal to bump into drivers not paying attention or doing stupid things.

Don't run any yellows, and dont jump the curb while parralell parking. Those killed me my first time out.

Assume that you will fail and that this is a test run for the experience. That will relax you 100%, and you will probably pass.

This is partially true. Drive AT the speed limit. Don't "play it safe" by driving 10km/h under it. Also:

-If driving on a multi-lane hightway, drive in the right-most lane unless the instructor has told you to make a left.
-When making lane changes, look...signal...wait a couple seconds...look again...then switch lanes. When I took my G test I passed, despite maxing out errors for lane changes on the score card (apparently I didn't wait long enough before switching lanes). Apparently that's grounds for a fail, so unless you feel confident you'll have no other errors and can therefore justify a pass (like me :D), I recommend getting this part right.
-For the love of god use two hands even if you've grown accustomed to one!
-Pray some unlucky and random mishap doesn't occur on the road during your test.

The reverse parking is the thing Im most worried about. When I practice I do it right sometimes but sometimes not right.

I never had to do a reverse park. Several hill parks, a parallel park and a three-way turn...all right off the bat. After that, it was just driving. I also had a hard time with the reverse park early on. Now it's a cinch and I can't understand what the earlier difficulty was about....

I completely messed up the parallel parking. I also hesitated before making a turn. The car was a fair distance away but I froze and let it pass. Those were my two errors but the tester passed me. Man did was I surprised when he gave me the all clear.

in an elevator...going up to ??
parallel and 3 point turn...

take your time on the parallel and continously look to each side while doing the 3 point...

i gently hit the curb on the parallel finish and on the last part of the 3 point missed seeing an oncoming vehicle in the distance ( should have reconsidered doing the turn but i thought i had enough time)...passed but those were my warnings on the exam...

Avoid the Brampton test centre. Book Oshawa or better yet, Kenora, if you can.

drive test centers are only after your money. they purposely fail students to have them come back and pay more to do more tests and you have to aslo pay the drving instructor to use his car which can range from $100-$200

make sure you are constantly checking your mirrors. I thought I was but I guess I became more relaxed and did not as often later during the test.

I recommend taking the test up in Aurora. My highway test was on the 404 up there. Despite being up in the boonies (yeah I said it), there still enough traffic up there to challenge you but without all those aggressive drivers and heavier traffic if you were to take the test lets say at Keele. Obviously, take the test seriously, but my mentality when I took the test was, if you don't pass the test there is a reason, not only for your own safety but others too.

If the instructor sees the nose of the car over the white stop line at a red light, its an automatic fail.

You get points deducted if you stop too close behind the car in front of you.

Moving to the right lane if there is an incoming emergency vehicle. Common mistake.

You don't just move to the right lane when there's emergency vehicles approaching. You also stop until they've passed you.

Drive on the passing lane and see what happens.
Don't do hand over hand see what happens.
Go above the speeding limit by just a little and see what happens.
Do not be able to do the mentioned parkings and see what happens.
Don't exaggerate when checking mirrors and BS and see what happens.
