Germany had already qualified, and the Czechs were going to qualify, the game was meaningless.
That said, right now, I don't think there is a dominant team in Europe, Beckenbauer may not be far off. Not saying Germany is the best, but there is no team that is clearly better. I think Spain, the Netherlands, and France have more individual talent than Germany, but I can't say they are better.
The French?!

Please don't use the word quality and France in the same sentence, they're a bunch of cry babies. When France beat Italy, on a shootout, in France98; the Italians wiped their noses and moved on. At Euro2000, when the French were gifted with 10 minutes of injury time; the Italians wiped their noses and moved on. Even the current schedule for qualification, with two games in September, gave the advantage to France - and they couldn't get it done.

The only reason that France escaped San Siro with a draw was that Donadoni (his only mistake as coach) started Del Pierro - a player slower than a tortoise in January. How does a GLOBAL SUPERSTAR like Thierry Henry allow himself to be shut down by a has been like Cannavaro? The French are about to learn the bitter lesson that Argentina has had to deal with - they once had Zidane, without him they are an average team.

For speed and athletic ability, the Englishman has no peer. What brings them down is their inability to play within a system. Sven nearly managed to get them to do so but he was let down by an indifferent captain. By the time he got England to Germany2006, the hyperactive English press had already crushed his spirit.

What England needs is an Ernst Happel (Holland 1978, Hamburg 1983) type of coach. A coach that intimidates the press and isn't afraid to drop players that dont buy into his team concept.

looking back on England's campaign well when you draw the mighty Macedonia 2-2 and 0-0
We never tied Macedonia twice, only once, we beat them 1-0 and then tied 0-0

But I agree, we should not be tying a minnow 0-0

At Tlibisi, Scotland got done in by the inspired play of the 17 year old starlet Levan Mchedlidze. Mich plays his club football in Serie A for Empoli and partners up with another highly rated teenager, and Juve prospect, Seba Giovinco. With his plolished skill set and speed, Mich is drawing favourable comparisons to Zlatan Ibrahimovich. And you can bet that Abramovitch is watching with a very keen eye.

As for Del Piero, John Cleese said it best:

"listen mate I know a stiff when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now"

Del Piero is a stiff; the most overrated player of them all.
you know thats BS Von as he was active in the WC final ..winning penalty kicks ...he isn't his full self after a surgery a few years a back. i'm not a Juve fan but he is a gentlemen when it comes to the sport...Over rated and over the Hill is Beckham.
Big Gossip is "the Special One(Jose M.) desiring to Coach the England National team!?!?

interesting!?..but he is hard to deal with as a coach by many, like Fabio Capello is to some.

So tomorrow is the 'Day of Reckoning', Russia has to either tie or lose against Israel and England have to beat Croatia on wednesday.

Frankly I dont see England making it, but I hope I'm wrong

Yes England are in a very bad situation...lets suppose Israel gets a result, beating Croatia will prove a very difficult task.

Italy or France could also miss out, depends on that Scotland/Italy game

To make matters worse, John Terry, Rooney and Michael Owen are all injured and wont play against Croatia.

Rio Ferdinand is also suspended.

Well Italy & France are through.

The end of that Italy/Scotland game was quite bogus...I have no idea on earth how Italy was awarded that free kick which resulted in the subsequent winner in 90th min. Although I suppose that balances out with the first half because I dont know why Di Natale's goal got called back when he was clearly onside. Entertaining game no less...cant wait for the summer.

The Scots did not deserve to lose.

From what the commentators were saying, the lead up to the match was one big party without any trace of holiganism. Considering what happened in Italy last weekend the class of The Tartan Army has restored my faith in football. Euro2008 will be a poorer event without them.

But having said that you cant lose to teams like Georgia and Belarus and expect to qualify for major competitions. The Scots are stout hearted and brave but teams like Italy and France are not in the habit of giving points away. I hope they qualify for South Africa2010.

By the time late April comes around Milan and Barcelona are going to regret passing on Luca Toni.
