Again we agree, eerie.Ranger68 said:'Course, not all ethanol's made from corn.
But, please, continue. You're dead on about the subsidies being evil.
Yes, very successful I think.scouser1 said:arent the Brazilians growing sugar cane for ethanol? you could easily grow that in the southern states.
Woody..we actually agree on something...WoodPeckr said:Brazil wrote the book on Ethanol production and they don't use any corn and half their vehicles run on Ethanol at half the price of gasoline today.
For the USA an ideal crop would be hemp or even switchgrass. The Corn lobby is getting a sweetheart deal in those farm-subsidies, they don't deserve. Corn is also a bad choice for the USA because the ripple effect is driving up costs in the food and feed chain. These price increases are already hitting consumers at the supermarkets.

Wow. Someone saying good things about J.C., you don't see that very often.WoodPeckr said:Carter 30 years ago tried to wean the US off oil and move the US onto alternative fuels only to have the BIG OIL lobby kill off all those Project Independence Programs.
You are partially correct..JC effectively killed the US nuclear reactor program....WoodPeckr said:Do a search in this forum.
I've been behind Ethanol and other alternative fuels for years here.
BIG OIL and their political proxies put the US in the sorry present state of being more dependent on offshore oil than ever.
President Carter 30 years ago tried to wean the US off oil and move the US onto alternative fuels only to have the BIG OIL lobby kill off all those Project Independence Programs.
BIG OIL Robber Barons have far far too much sway in US energy policy making.
End result of this myopia, we are more dependent than ever on offshore oil.
No, you don't want to focus on a proven technology that provides a substantial percentage of electricity in Europe - you want solar cells and farm subsidies.frasier said:You are partially correct..JC effectively killed the US nuclear reactor program....
Glad you agree bot.onthebottom said:Now if we could just build farking reactors and refineries in this country....

They have NO LOBBY or SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS backing them.hunter001 said:On a side note, what is the downside with building Geo-thermal plants which can be built almost anywhere? From what I read you just have to drill deep enough in the earth.
Pretty much what I figured.WoodPeckr said:They have NO LOBBY or SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS backing them.
I think you're in for a disappointment.WoodPeckr said:Glad you agree bot.
When Hillary becomes POTUS we will do all in our power to build farking reactors, their waste dumps and oil refineries in your backyard!.....![]()
