I wouldn't put him in the Hall simply because he wasn't able to string together a long enough career. Basically his career was the 8 seasons from `93 to `00 (everything he's done since then has been a non-factor). A career of 10 years or less shouldn't get you in the Hall unless you really pack a lot of accomplishments in it like Orr, Dryden and Bossy did.
Having said that though, before the concussions started, he was one of the best players in the game and no matter how bad he was after that, that will never change. All the talk about him being a bust or an underachiever is just revisionist history from fans who always wanted him to fail anyway.
For people who call him a failure because he never won a Cup, does that also apply to Hall of Famers like Sittler, Salming, Perreault, Park, Dionne, Stastny, Gartner, Hawerchuk, Lafontaine, etc.?
