Swedish police started checking trains for migrants on Thursday, imposing the first large-scale border controls in two decades, a move criticized by one opposition party as ending a tradition of openness and by others as being too little too late.

Officers waited at Hyllie station south of the city of Malmo, the first stop in Sweden on a route from Denmark, checked passengers' papers and led about 50 people away in the space of one and a half hours.

Oh, the irony. An association called “Refugees Welcome Bonn e.V.”organized a refugee welcome party. But then these do-gooders met the Islamic culture: the Muslim migrants sexually molested the women at the party.

And still the running dogs for Islam on left continue to lay down for them (literally). You can’t make this stuff up.

Here is what ‘Welcome Refugee’ org posted on their site after the party(thanks to Mark):

*English version*

Refugees Welcome Bonn e.V. wants to comment on the incidents that happened on party on the Township on Nov. 7th and was co-organized by our group. At the party we observed that some men molested, touched and harassed women. As co-organizer we want to apologize. During the party we tried to identify the offenders and make the leave the venue; also we made announcements where we asked to stop this behavior immediately. However, these measures were not successful. We apologize for that! Those men cast a negative light on our organization as well as on all men and male refugees, who were at our party.

[…] instead of just adversely pointing fingers at those who misbehave, we believe it’s as important for everyone in our civil society to tackle these differences in the daily integration.

For that reason we will increase our efforts to give no space to such behaviour during our upcoming parties and other events. We believe it’s essential to treat each other with respect and share the idea of a general equality between all human beings. That necessarily includes, akzepting [sic] a „No“, when making advances to somebody, instead of forcing your will on another person.
We as a group campaign for this. Still it has to be said clearly, that this kind of behavior is not acceptable and not tolerated in our group.

Oh yeah, that’ll work.

Listening to the Liberal ministers to-day, it sounds like they are disorganized and making policy on the fly.

Ralph Goodale said that security checks can also be done when they are here on Canadian soil. Sure, one way to find out is when a bomb goes off.

The truth is that the Liberals are determined to bring 25,000 over by end of 2015 and "damn the torpedoes".

The Europeans themselves are partly responsible for this refugee crisis. They openly supported regime change in Syria (and Libya before that) and actively worked to destabilize the Syrian government, which served to prolong and intensify the civil war in that country.

Perfect examples of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". They wrongly thought that getting rid of dictators would be good for the populace. Liberal lefties are also calling for getting rid of the royal family in Saudi Arabia.

Fascist and racist aren't synonymous.
There is a pretty substantial fascist tradition in Europe in Germany, Italy and Spain, not inconsequential back water countries. These nationalist tendencies are raising their ugly heads....

You as an American have no business speaking of fascism
True, we have no tradition of it other than defeating it on the battlefield.

To be fair both the left and right sides of the political establishment have supported the same disastrous policies in the Middle East. Starting with the neoconservative Bush administration and continued by Obama.

They also failed to reign in their ally, the openly sectarian government of Nouri al-Maliki in Iraq after overthrowing Saddam. The growth of ISIS would not have been possible if Maliki didn't purposely alienate and disenfranchise every single Sunni Arab in Iraq.

This is exactly right, Obama walked away from it and it descended into ISIS

What's interesting is that the more Maliki used violence against the Sunnis, the more support he received from his Shiite base which comprise the majority of Iraq's population. So in a perverse way, electoral democracy actually incentivized sectarianism in the country.

I think Iraq is a good lesson in why simplt parachuting democracy into a nation which lacks the requisite social cohesion and well developed civil institutions can be a disaster.

PM Lars Løkke Rasmussen, flanked by his integration and justice ministers, announced on Friday that his government will allow authorities to house refugees in tents, shorten refugees' residence permits and make them wait three years before bringing their family to Denmark.

Rasmussen introduced 34 initiatives spread across five main areas: changes to the conditions faced by asylum seekers, better options for sending rejected asylum seekers out of the country, new housing and detention options for immigration authorities, new possibilities for police to control the arrival of foreigners and relaxed requirements for municipalities in accommodating refugees.

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland cannot accept migrants under European Union (EU) quotas after the attacks in Paris, Poland's European affairs minister designate Konrad Szymanski said on Saturday, in a sign that Friday's assault may seriously undermine EU refugee policy.
In a commentary published in the right-leaning news portal wPolityce.pl, Szymanski said his incoming government did not agree with Poland's commitment to accept its share of an EU-wide relocation of immigrants, and now, "in the face of the tragic acts in Paris, we do not see the political possibilities to implement (this)."
"The (EU Council) decision is valid for all EU countries, but its implementation is very hard to imagine today," Szymanski said in a separate interview for RMF FM radio. "We have to wait for the EU Court of Justice, for Brussel's reaction."
Szymanski will take up his position on Monday as part of a government formed by last month's election winner, the conservative and eurosceptic Law and Justice (PiS) party.
In September, Poland broke ranks with its ex-communist partners from the 'Visegrad group' - Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia - by backing a European Union plan to share out 120,000 refugees across the 28-nation bloc.
Under the plan, agreed by the outgoing centre-right, pro-EU government, Poland was to take in 4,500 refugees, adding to some 2,000 it has already accepted.

The migrant crisis was a key issue in the election campaign, with PiS strongly critical of the government's decision.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks in Paris in which at least 127 people were killed. French President Francois Hollande deemed the attacks an act of war.
Poland's incoming Prime Minister Beata Szydlo lit a candle at the French Institute in the southern city of Cracow. At a briefing she refused to comment on the migrant issue, adding that she and her government will do everything "for the Polish nation to feel safe."

Angela Merkel’s political future is being questioned for the first time in Germany as divisions continue to grow in her government over her “open-door” refugee policy.
Guests on a popular television political talk show debated the possibility of a coup against the German chancellor from within her own party.
The discussion came as civil servants at the government refugee agency warned identity checks for Syrian asylum-seekers were ineffective and open to abuse by economic migrants and terrorists.
Wolfgang Schäuble, the finance minister, warned that Germany was facing an “avalanche” of refugees set off by a “careless skier”.
And Thomas de Maiziere, the interior minister, twice acted unilaterally to introduce stricter controls on Syrian asylum-seekers without informing Mrs Merkel.

Vienna (AFP) - Austria announced Friday it would erect a metal fence along its border with Slovenia, in a new blow to the's cherished open-border accord.

The 3.7-kilometre (2.3-mile) barrier, due to be completed in less than six weeks, will be the first fence between two members of the passport-free zone, as Europe grapples with a record influx of migrants.

Barbed wire would be stored in nearby containers ready to be rolled out along the frontier if the situation escalated, officials said.

Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner insisted the "fence conforms to the Schengen accord", adding it was part of temporary measures aimed at "channelling" the human flow.

The move came a day after European Union President Donald Tusk warned that Schengen -- one of the bloc's most important achievements -- was on the brink of collapse because of fallout from the migration crisis.

Austria's decision is the latest in a series of tough measures taken by countries to tackle the continent's worst refugee crisis since World War II.

Copenhagen (AFP) - Denmark on Friday unveiled tough new measures to deter refugees from coming to the country, including police searches of asylum seekers' luggage for valuables and cash.

A three-year wait for some family reunification claims and a plan to house migrants in tents has also been added to the plan.

"We are tightening access to Denmark so that fewer people come here," Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said at a press conference.

However he said Denmark would not introduce border controls like neighbouring Sweden did on Thursday.

"After less than one day of witnessing Swedish border controls, it is our assessment that border controls would lead to more asylum seekers in Denmark and not fewer," he said.
