Depending on when you go there will be other foreigners at the clubs on Galiano that can give you guidance. They are there for the same reason, a lot of them are veterans.

No very few people understand English or barely speak it.

Google translate is your friend! It was for me...

It should be noted though....finding cheap fares during the high season (December to the end March) will be very difficult. The really cheap fares occur in the summertime and fall.

Brings back fond memories of picking up girls at La Cecilia music venue in Havana, which was the goto place for hot local girls looking for some extra money. My friends and I befriended a young bartender who offered to get us a villa at the beach stocked with girls in exchange for a PlayStation!

Where are you going?

Starting off in Varadero to get an idea how bad the blackouts are. Depending on that, gonna hit Havana for a few days. I don't mind paying to cover charge to have them at the hotel either.
