When Robin Williams did stand up it was always on the fly, he never scripted anything. He had a spectacular record as an actor, to understand what he could do with written material check out Awakenings. Dan Ackroyd is guilty of willful blindness, RB and Robert De Niro partied with John Belushi. After he od'ed Ackroyd held his death against them...he didn't take into account that JB was the architect of his own destruction.

Williams adaptability with a controlled script was remarkable.

I heard when RW did Mork and Mindy, the writers would often leave parts of the script blank and instead wrote "Mork says something funny". lol

Guy was a flat out genius

He rode the elevator at Zitomers (upper east side NY store) with my daughter when she was six, he was very cute with her. Later she told my mother she meet "Mrs. Doughtfire"

Richard Pryor struggled to make a name for himself for a decade, then it all came to him at once. He wrote the script for Blazzing Saddles, won a Grammy for his comedy album That Nigger's Crazy and got a starring role in Silver Streak.

Speaking of comedians. We saw Louis Black and Kathleen Madigan at Massey Hall last night. Holy fuck were they great, absolutely brilliant. They had me in tears!
