In what I consider to be extreme level stupidity, Florida, with the blessing of Governor DeSantis and federal Secretary of Health RFK Jr., has declared that the basic childhood vaccines will remain available, but no longer mandatory.

A Black spokesperson for the government of Florida has even described mandatory vaccines as being a form of "slavery".

If he was Jewish I imagine he would have used the medical experiments carried out by Dr. Josef Mengele, of Auschwitz infamy, as an example of how cruel mandatory vaccinations are.

Say hello to potential epidemics of measles, mumps, rubella, and polio, with the Great State of Florida being Ground Zero...

Some people only learn the hard way. Let Floridians learn for themselves.

Anything that works doesn't need to be mandated. Those who have it will be protected. Those who don't will be, well, fucked.

And if you're worried about herd immunity, thats easy too. Stay out of Florida.

The problem is that if you are a smart parent and get your kid vaccinated, there is still a chance they could catch it from one of the kids who's parent is a moron and didn't get them vaccinated. No vaccine is 100% protective, but if a vast majority of people are vaccinated, the odds of a disease like measles or rubella spreading are anemically slim.

I sort of thought that Florida would be Ground Zero for the next polio outbreak...

Now, first, I want to say that I hope that when the next wave of diseases that were basically eradicated through mandatory vaccines pops up, the parents realize the severity of their inaction. I don't want any kids to suffer, they really have no say in this and are under their parents control...But, I guess if you can make an Iron Lung, you could have yourself a lucrative cottage industry....

The spokesperson is disgraced Med School prof LaDapo, who's made a sleazeball career out of being an anti vaxxer.

Same way that the anti vaxxers in Canada have brought back measles in Ontario and Alberta.
The damage done will be long term.

I honestly feel horrible for the children. I've read that certain parts of the US have seen people die of tetanus because the parent refused to give them the shot...We live in a horrible timeline ...

We had a few decades of pretty good life, just the slow decline from end state capitalism.
Now we get the end of democracy, genocide, creeping plagues and climate change disasters.

Its so bad that stuff like this just passes by.

If there is an increase in measles cases it has nothing to do with so called anti-vaxxers. It has everything to do with bringing in millions of unvaccinated people from 3rd world nations.

So people are allowed to decide if they get vaxxed or not? People are back to coordinating with their physicians if they should or should not take vaccines and not forced to take one?

wow, a post based entirely on racial stereotypes that ignores the facts

In Ontario it was mostly christian wackos, Amish or Mennonite types.
In Alberta its mostly anti vaxxer types.

The mandated vaccines are those that are generally accepted by the medical experts, and with historical evidence, as being safe and effective against severe childhood and adult diseases, which are highly contagious.

The purpose of everybody hopefully being vaccinated at pre-school age is to prevent contagion in the close quarters of schools

Another purpose is to hopefully eradicate these diseases by creating "herd immunity". For example, measles and polio were thought to be eradicated, but due to laxity in people having their children vaccinated, those diseases have reappeared.

Nobody is mandated to take the pneumonia or the shingles vaccine, and many other vaccines such as those that are available for certain types of Hepatitis. That is their personal call and probably on the advice of their physician.

But when it comes to the generally mandated vaccines, I can't agree that recommendation should be left up to individual physicians with their own possibly misguided and/or misinformed theories and opinions.

We have laws that prevent people from doing stupid things in all walks of life that can cause harm. I consider Vaccinations to be in that category.

I think every person, either at the appropriate age, or if they want to become residents of Canada, should be vaxxed. Period.

You would bring back child mortality rates.

I agree with this - to add to my frustration, and i felt this way during COVID - that there should have been two waiting rooms at the ER for vaxed vs unvaxed, and preferential rapid treatment only applied to vaxed patients. The unvaxed can frigging wait, seeing as how they didn't give a shit about anyone anyways.

It's just insane to me to see measles making a comeback - there is a level of stupid in people that defies explanation.

Measles has the added bonus of wiping out your immunity to other diseases at the same time.
So you get it, become immune to measles but open to everything else again.

RFK Jr is too macho to care about Mother Nature, measles could roll out the red carpet for The Blue Soldier.

I was right all along. I said Cheryl Hines was useless in Curb, she married RFK Jr.
