Inter won the supercut against Napoli at the end minutes of the game. Simeone got a red card. Napoli fought back like crazy. 1-0

I don't know why these games are played in Saudi Arabia, let the Italians watch them at home.

Gigi Riva the greatest Italian goal scorer died at 89 today

Leaving Roma gave Lo Speciale the most grief, he loved the Roman lifestyle. I believe Gigi "Rombo di Tuono" Riva still holds the all time top scorer as an Azzurri. Sad he see him go, he should be more celebrated. Rombo di Tuono = Rolling Thunder. He led Cagliari to perhaps their only scudetto in 1970.

Building a powerhouse, but Liverpool want to trip Juve up by poaching Kenan Yildiz.

Gigi Riva was born in Nov 1944, he was 79. He helped Italy win it's first Euro and was on the runner up squadra to Brazil in 1970.

Is the Saudi Poozz League in trouble. They tried to sign Juventus prodigy Matias Soule, the player himself turned it down. The 2034 WC could be a disaster, climate change could make it too hot ,night/day, by the time it arrives.

Today one of the biggest games, Juventus- Inter. It was a evened match with Inter a little better at the beginning, but even Chiesa couldn't score and Inter won 1-0.

Napoli was losing , managed to come back and win against Verona and Atalanta (which I like a lot) beat Lazio. 3-1

I'm out of touch, didn't know Kvara was suspended in the first place. He makes an auspicious return.

MLS has overtaken NHL in popularity.
Thats only in the US of course. Hockey still rules in Canada
MLS is now the 4th biggest league in NA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_in_the_United_States

More here: https://torontosun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/mls-soccer-continue-to-rise-over-hockey
But soccer has seen more youth subscriptions than hockey for many years now.

Here in Quebec, no new arenas are being built. But new indoor soccer facilities are popping up everywhere!

I seem to recall about 30 years ago Sports Illustrated had a cover feature that stated the NHL was hotter than the NBA. Times have changed
I wouldnt be surprised if MLS surpasses MLB some day, but that will probably take at least 2 or 3 decades

Just look at the decline in the number of African-American MLB players over the last 20 years
Yeah, very strange because African-Americans for a long time were dominant in MLB.
It seems to have shifted towards Latinos now

Inter won against Atletico, Atletico could barely put a shot on target.

Mbappe is going to Real.

Soccer great Dani Alves going to jail for rape.

Ex-Barcelona player Dani Alves sentenced to prison for sexual assault

Catalonia's top court on Thursday found former Brazil footballer Dani Alves guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022, sentencing him to 4½ years in prison.
The court also ordered that Alves pay €150,000 ($162,990) to the victim.

"The sentence considers that it has been proven that the victim did not consent, and that there is evidence, in addition to the testimony of the plaintiff, to consider the rape proven," the court said in a statement.
Alves had maintained the sex was consensual, and his lawyers told reporters outside the courthouse that he intends to appeal the sentence, which also includes a five-year probation upon release and a 9½-year restraining order.

The prosecutor had been seeking a nine-year prison term.
"We are satisfied as the sentence recognises what we've been saying all along: that the victim was telling the truth and that she suffered," the victim's lawyer David Saenz told reporters, adding that his team would analyse whether the sentence corresponds to the gravity of the crime.

Alves' lawyer, Ines Guardiola, disagreed with the sentencing, saying: "We are going to appeal. I still believe in Dani Alves' innocence. We haven't read the whole sentence yet because it's very long, but we are going to study it in detail now. We defend [Alves'] innocence."
Alves, 40, was arrested in January 2023 after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the bathroom of an upscale Barcelona nightclub in the early hours of Dec. 31, 2022.

Alves had remained in preventive pre-trial prison in Spain ever since, with a judge turning down regular requests for bail and deeming him a flight risk.
The case was heard over three days at a court in Barcelona earlier this month, with Alves changing his story for the fifth time shortly before the trial began.

At first, he maintained he did not know the woman accusing him. He later said he had met the woman in the bathroom of the club but that nothing happened.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain defender, when confronted with biological evidence, changed his version of events again, saying she had consensually performed oral sex on him.
Last April, following the results of further biological tests, Alves admitted for the first time that he had sex with the woman, claiming it was consensual and that he had lied to hide his infidelity to his wife.

Very strange case. Did the SA happened in the female or male bathroom??
And how did the woman get into the male bathroom, or how did Alves get into the female bathroom??
