i dunno... could it have started back when he was a 15 year old and refused to play for the soo greyhounds... that trade forced some players to drop out of university and college studies to go to the soo in exchange for him...

that wasn't enough... he refused to play in Quebec too... now he was affecting people's families ... ie, the many players involved had to immediately pack up the kids, pull them out of school, wife quits her job and they all gotta get settled in a new city and start over...

or was it when he slept with the wife of flyers teammate Rod Brind'Amour..? that certainly proving that he's there for and only for himself... good ole Rod beat the begeezus out of him and next thing you know, brind'amour is immediately shipped to carolina... a season later, eric won't play for the flyers anymore and demands a trade for whatever reason.... bobby made it clear of how disruptive big 88 is to team unity, which further hurt clarke's bargaining chip in eric... already tarnished from the big concussion... and finally then got him the hell out of dodge...errr philly.

i don't know what the issue is with thornton and lindros... i really don't. but there is quite along list of players that share distate for 88...

in 2003 he was rated the hockey news' #1 most disliked player as chosen by other players...

so idunno the validity of all of this crap.... it starts to sound like a good tabloid paper after a while...

i guess what matters is that he shows to be somewhat humble now and is happy in toronto... i think most leaf fans are happy to have him.

Interesting...didn't know. I guess I could see 88 being that kind of a problem in the lockeroom and a prick in real life. I met his brother once at some function. Guess 88 is very different. I don't know either...aslong as he plays hard and puts his heart in it, I'll let it slide...

Leafs lose 5-4???

Leafs were up 4-1 went I went out. Come home and they've lost 5-4. What happened??? Oh, I know.........they SSUUUCCCKKKK!!!!!

With each passing game (Sens or Leafs), I hope more and more the Sens get to face those bums...I mean buds, in the playoffs.

Welcome to the new NHL Leaf Nation, where bags of cash don't beat scouting and drafting and shrewd trades.:D

actually they were up 3-1.

That's the new NHL, teams blow leads all the time so why bring this up is beyond me. Oilers were up 3-0 last night vs the Bruins and eventually lost.

Also that was there 6th game in 9 days, they were bound to hit a wall. Get back to me when Ottawa actually succeeds in the playoffs.

I feel the same about Ottawa. In past years we have been pretty lucky against Ottawa in the playoffs, but this year I dunno. They look strong, but the playoffs are a different story. In my most optimistic view, Leafs with the conference in 7. Cross my fingers!!

You didn't watch or listen to the game did you? :D Leafs never lead 4-1. They were up 3-1, then trailed 5-3 and finally lost the game 5-4.

Leaf beat the rap on a technicality!

No you're right I never watched the game. Why would I watch those bums when we have a super team here in Ottawa.

I heard the Sharks scored four goals in a row and I assumed they were the last four. Of course, when I read the summary the next day I realized my mistake. I knew when got a chance to come back on here I would see you Leaf fans on me like a bunch of sleazy lawyers seizing on some trivial technicality to try and beat a rap.

Those playoff series the Leafs squeaked out were in the "old" NHL. This year you won't be out at the trade deadline getting a Brian Leetch, Owan Nolan, Ron Francis, Glen Wesley et al. This year you'll have go with the bums you got. But you guys keep harpin' on that. It'll comfort you if the buds do make the playoffs. You'll think might have a chance. By the way, if you want to live in the past I've got some stock I could sell you in a super little gold mine that traded for $200 a share, its called Bre-X. (Just kiddin' I never bought that crap.)

Why do people make the mistake of assuming on these boards? They quite often make an ass out of themselves like you just did. I'm not a Leafs fan. I'm a hockey fan in general. I'm from Montreal(Guess which team I follow). I started watching hockey during the 92-93 season(Guess what my team did that season). Sure they haven't been doing well since then but, hey, I have to be loyal to my team and my city. Anyways, the 92-93 Senators suck. However, I like the way how they built their team through the draft and the way they play this season(even though they beat MTL thrice already). The Heatly trade was great. In fact, I'll be in Ottawa in about 2 weeks. I'm considering attending a game.

Wow tough loss tonight. I thought we had some really good chances at the end of the game there, but the Kings just seemed to have more of an edge. They were hungry to end there loosing streak so they just out skated us. Our veterans, Allison and Lindross, got two pretty dumb penalities at the end of the game, which didn't contribute to a last minute come back. Sundin was awesome, he was there till the end as usual. Again, tough loss, we really had them there for a while.

First off, if you're like most Canadians and you started watching hockey in 92-93 that would mean you're about 17 years old now. What are you doin' on this board?

You're from Montreal. Gee, I guess you follow the Canadiens. In 92-93, the Senators were an expansion team and yes they did suck, what's your point? If I remember correctly, the Canadiens backed into a Stanley Cup that year when Pittsburg got upset and the lowly Kings managed to fluke through the west. Never before or since has a team rode a hot goalie like the Canadiens did that year with Patrick Roy. You know what? If the Senators had a Patrick Roy instead of a Patrick Lalime, they would probably be double defending Stanley Cup champions right now. AND this year's team is better than those two.

You're right-on with some of the things you said: 1) The Canadiens haven't been doing well since 92-93. 2) There's a lot to like about the way the Senators built their team and how they are playing this year. 3) The Heatley trade was great (Ho$$a is a great talent but he put himself before the team).

So come to Ottawa and see a game. You'll be able to go home and tell your freinds what a real hockey team looks like. The team has been selling out despite increasing the number of seats in the buildings so maybe you should order some tickets now.

Oh come on! I watched every minute of every Kings playoff game that year, a lot of them in person, and their trip through the west was no fluke. That was the real deal, and some great playoff hockey for that team.

I guess we could just talk about the Leafs. Keep your quote handy Phnine. I have a feeling you'll be posting it a lot this year.

Tough loss eh...and I thought the Sens softened them up for the Leafs by pounding them on the ice and in the alley the night before; 6-1. Their tough guy was so petrified he turned down McGratten and Neil, then he picks on Kelly who hasn't been in a fight since pee-wee. (Sorry, got off topic there. They don't play for the Leafs.):D

Navigator24,

I sure hope for your sake that Ottawa wins the Stanley cup this season or the next couple. Coz Hasek will not be there for long and, with the salary cap system, no way will they be able to keep their team intact.
