didn't catch the game, but i heard on mojo that alot of people didn't think Mats deserved a star.

PHNINE... not to hijack the thread, but i gotta question you :

McCabe deserves to be on the olympic team.

why? is it no good reason except just because you are a fan of McCabe? don't get me wrong, i'm not searching for an argument... rather, i'm tryin to see the light where you think McCabe should be somewhere Pat Quinn thinks he shouldn't be.

any one of those 7 defensemen on Team Canada can do exactly what McCabe does (only difference is they can do it even strength and play defense as well). It's not McCabe getting all those PP points, it's his linemates doing all the work.

I think McCabe is deserving to be on the taxi squad.

The other defensemen that you say (21pro) can do the same things he is doing, are not doing it.
12 goals and 30 assists in 35 games..not too shabby for a guy on a team that will be lucky to make the playoffs no matter how you slice it.

If he keeps it up he will get serious consideration for the Norris Trophy as well.

Oh yeah I agree with you that any of the other defence men can do what McCabe does but you can't disregard the stats. Is he not leading the defence men in points or something like that? I agree that his linemates are doing alot to help him out, but can you honestly tell me that when that pass goes to McCabe at the point and he winds up for that one timer you're not just waiting for that goal horn to go off. Just for that reason alone I think he is deserving to be on the olympic team. Other then being a McCabe fan I just can't disregard the stats. A good fast paced game. It seemed at one point in the 2nd period they went forever without a stoppage in play.
Tucker used the guys helmet to bash him in the head a couple of times. He will be suspended for 3 to 5 games for that one (stupid).
Both goalies looked sharp.

no, no... you got me wrong... i think Quinn put him on the taxi squad just to look like he tried to pull for McCabe when really, everyone on hockey canada (including Quinn) knows they wouldn't want McCabe being the last line of defense in front of their goalie.

if he could be a 'pinch hitter' than fine, he should be playing, but, when putting together Canada's best, he don't belong.

Nope....Colin Campbell says Tucker only gets a $2500 fine for trying to make Jansenn into 'helmet head'. Cam says he didn't think that Tucker had intent to injure: A quote from the NJ Star Ledger in which Cam says "I'm sure he didn't mean to do it. From what I hear, he's an honest player. He's just sticking up for his captain. He's a tough cookie. It was a good go. I felt it, but I didn't see it coming. I didn't even know it was the helmet."

No harm...no foul, I guess.

just my opinion... like i said, i think it was a good idea he was put on the taxi squad... but, probably for the wrong reasons.

don't get me wrong, i like McCabe, i just think his defensive game isn't among Canada's best... phil housley didn't exactly play good defensive hockey either- yet, he was still an all-star.

Didn't catch the game tonight. Wanted to see Sid the Kid but had other engagements. Managed to catch the highlights on sportsnet though. Glad to have seen Sundin get 3 points. Nice shot by Kaberle.

well, if you can only pick 7 of Canada's best defensive defensemen, i'd say they are already on the team.

McCabe isn't one of them... this is not bashing McCabe. He has been on the ice for over 58 of the leafs Goals Against. that's about 49% of the goals the leafs have allowed in.

It is not bashing... It is only his statistic. None of the other Team Canada defensemen Members have that shitty of defensive statistics.

Gotta love the shootout. The leafs skated hard tonight. Very fast paced game. All the boys looked pretty good tonight. All four lines played pretty well. I would have liked to have seen Wellwood on the shootout, but Ponikoroskvi did win it for us. Great game. Leafs win.
