Not sure about prisons but they are definitely do this in universities. The theory is that the ethnic makeup of the student population should reflect that of the general population. Academic qualification is secondary.

I never said anything about how there should be equal proportion of races when carding.

But the info I shared it seemed like these are black teens walking down the street that are getting carded at an alarmingly high number. I find that Hamilton has a strong biker and mob presence. And that Barton street is largely white trash and some aboriginals causing the problems.

I've spent my fair share of time in seedier parts of Hamilton and I am far more likely to see a white Eminem looking "thug" than a 50 Cent G.

IF I was a cop cruising the Main St/King St/Barton area and I was carding..... I would have to work really hard to even find a black person.

There are roughly 10000 blacks in Hamilton.

Anyways you are missing my point which was that life as a law abiding black person sucks compared to that of a white person. I was responding to the person who asked what do black people have to complain about.

But how do you know that's not because an alarmingly high number of them are found in suspicious circumstances?

I'm sure there are cases of discrimination bit I'm also sure a lot of legitimate stops are being called racist by BLM when the carded individuals drew attention to themselves through suspicious behavior / dress / association to known criminals.

That the Prime Minister participated is an important achievement. We've come a very long way since the early 80's, I still remember St Charles Tavern getting thoroughly egged by Black Sabbath fans after the MLG concert. It was the show with Ronnie James Dio as frontman for the first time, it was a great show. The ugliness afterwards left me confused. What point were they trying to make? I would like to believe that most Sabbath fans are not human piss juggs...after all Rob Halford is gay.

I'm not sure I can only base it on my experiences of living in Hamilton.

I'm glad you acknowledge that there are probably some cases of discrimination.

But if charges were laid but if they were laid would that not have been published as well to counter the accusations that it was a racist practice?

Lots of legitimate police activity never leads to a charge. In fact most. I still see no reason to doubt that blacks would be more and should be more heavily carded under a completely non racist policy.

The reality is that crime is epidemic in the black community and that results in more contacts with the police.

But the question is, "is it legitimate to card black guys who dress in a hip hop manner?"

We are also talking about Hamilton which has around 10000 blacks (which includes men, women and children) in a city with 500 000. Like I said there is a strong biker and mob presence in that city. We are not talking about Jane Finch corridor. Trust me take a drive down the rough parts of Hamilton and tell me how many black dudes you see? Then tell me how many sketchy white guys in wife beaters you see.

There are more aboriginals in Hamilton than blacks and they too have a problem with crime.... yet they did not come in first for carding.

Nor do the white wife beater wearing dudes who hang out on porches and stoops in the Barton St Area.

This is definitely the theatre of the absurd. Now BLM wants an apology from the police.

Actually, BLM should apologize for all the deaths caused by black people, the pimps, the human trafficking, the robberies, the drug dealings, the sexual assaults, etc.

Law abiding people shouldn't have to apologize for the acts of criminals.
